My Anery Corn Got Out !!!!

I just got a baby corn and i went over to a friends house for a couple of hours and when i got home he wasnt in the Aquarium. The tank is pretty big and not to sure how he could get out. Is there any chance i will find him? Does anyone have any ideas on what i could do to try to lure him into my bedroom if he isnt still in here. I just put half of a small pop bottle down with a pinky inside on the floor infront of the tank to try to see what happens. This will be his first feed how i just got him a few days ago so im also scared that he will stave to death. He was fed last week sometime im not to sure on the day though.

Any help will be muchly appriciated as i am brand new to the forum as this is actually my very first post. Its not the one i wanted to make but i need help..

Thank You in advance.....

Firstly, welcome to the forum! Glad to have you! I'm sorry your first post had to be one like this.

Okay, how was the lid secured? Corns can escape through the tiniest gaps imagineable...

Are you sure he's not still in the cage? Have you checked every tiny nook and cranny? Check even places that you think he could never be in.

Once you are 100% sure he's not in the cage, start a slow, methodical search of the room, starting with the area around the tank, pay special attention to dark, warm areas and tight fits, they like squeezing into small places. Check even the smallest holes, even if you think he can't get in there, chances are, he probably can! Especially if it's a little one.

I really hope you find him! Nothing worse than checking on them and they are gone!

Don't worry, they can go without for over a month if necessary so he won't starve if he was fed last week.

Have a search for previous posts for lost corns, or escapees, there is alot of information you will prob find useful.
As you say the tank is quite big, have you seached it properly? Check through every little nook and cranny, and make sure you look through the substrate as they do like to burrow sometimes.
Good look in finding it, and keep us updated.

Thanks..... ok i literally just tore my room apart and there is a tiny gap on the top of the tank where the light plug is hanging out... i was actually going to take it out but i was in a rush and me thinking after 4 days if he didnt try to escape yet he wont. Boy was i wrong.

I tore the tank apart as if i bought it brand new and nothing. I even Checked underneath it.

So i hope he takes to the pinky i have on my floor. If he does hes trapped cuz the hole is to small for him to get out with a pinky in him... Atleast i think it is. The only place i havent checked is in the walls... I have an old house and it was not built very good in the 1900s ( im thinking 1920s or before) so theres alot of gaps. If i find him im going to get some wood and go over every small area and cover it up.

So besides waiting and seeing if i see him in my room is there anything i can do? I have the master bedroom in my parents house so i have alot of stuff so he could be anywhere. If i had to guess id guess in the walls. I hope not but thats what im thinking now :S

Thanks for your suggestions... But i just literally tore everything out of my closet and no sign of em.... So what could i possibly do next??

As CornNoobie said, search the forum for "escape" or "lost" you will find lots of ideas there.

Look under all furniture near the aquarium. He is small and will be easy to overlook. Look in corners. Look in shoes or boxes. Don't deicee not to look somewhere because you think he couldn't get in it. As you found out, cornsnakes are great at getting through tiny spaces.

Keep us up to date.

Look inside any viv decorations, look for anything hollow with an opening at the bottom like aquarium decorations.

Look in any dark places near where he escaped from, inside boxes, etc.

You have a lamp INSIDE the viv? I hope it is covered so the snake can;t get too close to it and burn himself, when you get him back =)
