my corn is 16 months old its viv is 82 f and i got him 3 weeks ago, and he hasnt fed since i got him! he shed today and he still doesnt seem interested in food! is there anything else i can do like dont touch him for a couple of days then feed him? any suggestions on what to do would be much apreciated! cheers Ross

I'm not sure what you have been offering him or what things you have been trying. I would have to assume that being 16 months old he is an established eater. Be patient. Being 16 months old he can probably go a good while without eating. I would wait 2-3 days before trying again and if he refuses again only offer food every 4-5 days. Try cutting the skin down the back of the mouse (F/T) and/or try braining it. This should give it a stronger scent.

Sometimes older snakes just go off of food around this time of year (especially males) because it is getting close(r) to the breeding season. It could be that he is just feeling a little stressed from moving into a new environment. Maybe hold off on handling him too much if you have been. Whenever I have one that is refusing (usually hatchlings not yearlings) I only bother them to spot clean, change water, etc and don't handle at all so that I don't add to any potential stress.

Hopefully, he'll start to eat for you. :)

cheers i do not know the sex of it as yet but i will leave it for a few days i am trying to feed it mice bout medium size, and it is very jumpy when i walk past viv or if there is a mouse put in there. is this normal i am very concerned bout him now!

I wouldn't be too concerned. Something that is probably worth a shot if he/she is shy is to leave them with a mouse overnight in a dark quiet spot and wait until the next morning to see if he's eaten. If you feed in a separate container just put the container and all back in the viv overnight.

Are you feeding frozen/thawed or live?

i am feeding it thawed mice and am putting it in at about 7 at night! i am using a long pair of tweezers and moving it about as if it is alive!!

Wait five or so days then try feeding in a dim room, at night some snakes are shy eaters. Also in a smaller container with a secure vented lid and slices the backs of the f/t mouse, to scent it. He might not like tweezers. You might have to leave him in there a few hours.
Don't force the feeding issue. You don't want to condition you snake into rejecting food.
Remember Zayatte has told you some good information too. It could be that. All snake have their own personality. You have to figure what that is.

Good Luck
