Hey guys and girls i am a beginner at keeping a snake, i just got my first corn snake i did alot of research but now that i have the snake i keep getting paranoid its gonna die. here is pictures of my snake and how i got him set up if im doing something wrong please tell me.

Snake:
I'm not sure what kind of snake he is if someone knows it would be nice to tell me thank you.

Setup:
For my heat source i have (UTH) Under Tank Heating, I also have a little lamp with a red bulb that the pet store gave me. I have no clue if i'm giving him to much heat or if its good, I keep the light on in the day and at night i turn it off leaving the snake with just the heat pad. If anyone can teach me more things i would gratefully appreciate it thanks:) Email [email protected]

You should probably provide some aspen bedding they feel secure able to burrow and your temps on the warm end shouldn't be higher than 85 degrees are you using something to monitor and control the temps of the UTH? If you post bigger pics someone can tell you the morph:)

Ok i will work on getting aspan bedding Thanks for the tip. I have nothing monitoring the (UTH) but its not the type you by from the drugstore store or walmart, it is one from the petstore, The (UTH) says on the box its safe and when i feel under the take to see if it is hot its not really that hot it just feels nice and warm. Haha i try to get a close up picture of him but he always runs away from me this will be my second day having him and im scared to stress him out to much. Thanks.

You need to get a thermostat to control the heat (uth) and a thermometer with a probe to measure the temperature. Aspen would help too.
I was going to say your snake is an amel but after clicking the pictures and getting a bigger view of it, I not sure. I see light black borders I think.
A normal is my guess but more experience members will tell you

Good Luck

I think it may be a hypo. Here is a pic of one of my Hypo's to reference;

Ya defiantly you might want to look into getting yours snake some substrate.

As for its morphology, from what I can tell (coming from a newbie) it doesn't seem to have any double recessive traits; it could be heterozygous, but that is usually harder to tell. As for its base morph, I'd have to say its just a normal North Carolina.
Im not 100% sure about my prediction, you'll have to wait untill an experienced breeder (unlike meself :() gives you a response. More pictures would be nice though! :)

Those UTH's from the pet store are way too hot to be used uncontroled- get a rheostat or thermostat they are not safe without one and should be controled to show temps around 85ish. Looks like you have a nice normal:)

The (UTH) says on the box its safe and when i feel under the take to see if it is hot its not really that hot it just feels nice and warm.
Bear in mind that a Corn's ideal maximum temperature is lower than human body temperature. If the UTH feels warm to you, then it probably is a bit too hot for a Corn. You really need to buy a thermometer so that you can tell how hot it's getting.
