He suddenly wants to get into something to do with genetics. I am guessing snakes. He saw garters at the show yesterday 2 albinos and one het albino. But Garters are fast ... he is not. He has some physical disabilities. A speedy snake is gonna have a huge margin to tag him or get away from him. He has a depth perception issue as well. Anyway ... guess who would really be the snake keeper ... hahaha

Anyhow there is an issue is that he wants colorful snakes ... I keep saying corns! and he seems to want something else ... is there anything else with soooo many color variations that doesn't need expert keepers?? LoL

I am gonna keep pushing corns .... just trying to present some options.

I can't think of anything other than ball pythons, king snakes, and rat snakes but they are just as fast.

ball pythons have a reasonable amount of morphs and colors and are fairly easy to keep. does it have to be snakes. beardies are a really nice docile pet and have a decent amount of nice colors too. or geckos.

BP's are reasonably calm. Their morphs can be quite pricey though since they seem to be the "big thing" right now. I have a boa who is fairly calm as well, but they get bigger :awcrap:

i don't think he would do balls ... he is fixed income.

I would perfer to stay with snakes as they are easier to house. We are in a single family home with 4 adults and 2 kids. Wall space is very limited lol.

Like I hinted I am SURE I will be the care taker he will just pick the pairs to breed for his genetic "research" lol

what do I care he is basically buying me snakes LoL

What about milk snakes? They are certainly pretty....there are a ton of cool kings too. Ball pythons have a lot of morphs, but they aren't too colorful (even compared to corns).

Has he considered 4-legged reptiles? I vote cresties!

Aside from what has already been mentioned, only Kenyan Sand Boas and Amazon Tree Boas come to mind, but I think ATB's fall under the category of "experienced keepers" and KSB's only really have 3 morphs that I know of--Anery, Albino, and, of course, Snow. Like people have said, there are Ball pythons, but they're expensive... I can't even find a normal for under $30-40, let alone ANY morph...
