My first ball python

Haya Tha'baan

my little worm
I'm kind of excited so I thought I'd share. I got a ball python today from someone who got him from a show and had planned to breed him, but got concentrated on another breed of snake so he sold him to me and the female he got to someone else.

I prepared this enclosure:

for him before having seen him.

He's smaller than I hoped and expected but he's very cute. However, I'm worried the enclosure is too big for him, particularly the hides (that I worked hard on and he doesn't seem to like them *huff*). He's snuggled against the wall of the warm hide and the wall of the glass. Should I make him smaller hides?

His name is Chilongola or Chili for short. I had a dream I had a baby ball that I named Chili. I searched the internet for an African name starting with "Chil" to give him a more "proper" name and found that one. It's a name from Tanzania but I couldn't find a name like that that was West African. Oh well, here's a couple more pictures!

Thanks for looking :)

very nice looking bp. Love those guys, great snakes. you'll enjoy him, just get used to their little quirks...like hiding everywhere but the hideboxes you worked so hard on lol

I put plastic cups on their side in the hides to add extra security. They're perfect for his size, but he's still disinterested.
