My first snake!

I am new to corn snakes, but have been researching all about them (and lurking here) for months now. I have even had my tank set up and have been monitoring the temps for 2 weeks! Today my first snake arrived by FedEx... a candy cane from South Mountain Reptiles. She is lovely, and she has been exploring her new home all day since she got here. I know I have to leave her alone for a few days, but boy is it difficult!

I haven't decided on a name for her yet, but here are some pictures for your enjoyment...

She's beautiful! I've always loved the candy canes but have yet to get one. You're girl is just stunning! Congratulations. :)

Oh yes.. She is beautiful!
Nothing wrong in lurking.. I am grandmother to an 11 month old snow corn and trying to absorb as much info and insite that I can..

Very pretty! I love the various head patterns. I'm new too, just got mine on Monday and have been very stressed out since then. I had done research, but apparently not enough.

I am on information overload :(

Me too! There is so much information here. It's great when everyone agrees on the same advice, but can be very confusing when it conflicts. For example, I'm starting to get super paranoid about what water I give my snake - some people say bottled, some say to use purifying drops, some say tap is fine... I'm just hoping my little girl does okay and that I don't hurt her or make her sick somehow. Good luck to you, Schnebbles!

I had the same question about water. I called the girl I got them from and she said tap is fine.

i have city water. I hadn't even thought of that topic again! What are you going to use? I maybe should pick up some bottled water? or drops, or...more confusion! lol!

I poured some water from my Brita pitcher into a bowl and let it sit overnight - that might be overkill but I dunno. I did notice that the water bowl was slightly whitish colored at the water line, so I'm still worried about the water. It seems silly to me to give my snake bottled water when me, my husband, and the cats drink from the tap and/or the filter-pitcher. I hope it's OK! :shrugs:

Welcome welcome from a fellow newcomer ;-) She looks great, and what a cutie! Looks like she's got a great home.

That is an amazing baby. I just use tap... My red tail and my sand boa both drink tap. Maybe I should switch to bottled... lol

Wow very nice looking snake you've got there!! Im new too and I have been using bottled water as instructed by the store I got him from, he seems to be doing just fine. Welcome to the site and forums the members are very experienced and very nice, they should be able to help with any questions you have.
