Well, I tried to feed my hatchlings today, but they were totally uninterested. At least I got my first real taste of their personalities. They're both the same morph, Hypo Lav, but their colours vary a lot.

The female was playing Mr Tough Guy, she bit me a couple times, but I didn't feel it. She snapped at the mouse a lot, but I think she was just trying to be scary because she didn't make any effort to eat it.

Here is the male, he seemed pretty laid back for a hatchling. He does a lot of staring. Such a cute little face! Unfortunately, after sniffing the mouse a couple times he completely ignored it.

I guess I'll give them another week before I bother them to try and feed again. How long after hatching do they usually take to eat?
 
have they had their first shed yet?
how old are they exactly?
if they have not had their first shed, do not feed them yet. they need to shed first, then you can try feeding them a pinkie, or half of one if it still ignores the full pinkie or with some hatchlings you will have to brain the pinkie, (exposing the brain of the pinkie for the wee snake to smell it better). they normally have their first shed after 7 days of hatching. then try them then.

ah yeah, i know one of them has shed. he came with it in his little container. i'm not sure about the other one, but i suspect he did right before he was shipped since he hasn't since then.
 
i see. so do you know exactly how long ago they were hatched, if you truly believe they have both had their first shed, did you leave them to settle for a few days in their new environment? without being fed or handled?
if you did, try braining the pinkie or cutting one in half, if you still have no luck, leave them for a further couple of days and maybe you will then have to force feed.
