My New Babies

SnakeNbake

Cuz that's how I roll!
Diamondlil, these are the new additions I was telling you about. :)

These two new babes came to me on the same day from two different people. At first I was upset that they were given to me as 'replacements' for Sophie, who passed away last week. I know they were given out of kindness but I wasn't ready for a new snake and didn't have the supplies they needed. I admit I was also nervous that I didn't choose them myself and had no idea of ages, breeding, last time they ate, and general health. I'm sure they think I'm clinically insane since I gave them both speeches about being cute and all but 'they are no Sophie'...lol, I'm such a jerk.

This baby is working overtime to weasel his way into my heart. If I look into his viv he comes crawling over and puts his face eye level with mine. He doesn't move like my other snakes. He isn't stiff at all and he twists his body into weird shapes. His name is Maizey (nah, I wasn't looking to join the Maizey club. Named him after the person who gave him to me) and he's a red stripe. Sorry for the crap picture quality...

Damn Girl!.

Thanks :)
The flash really whited Maizey out. He normally is a dark orange with dark red stripes and a bright yellow belly.

Wow, we should all be so lucky as to have friends who give us condolescence snakes when ours meet misfortunes-- especially a gorgeous stripe! That normal (maybe hypo, maybe not) is pretty easy on the eyes too. I don't mean that to sound like losing Sophie was a good thing; the new ones are just really nice corns too.

Thanks, Dean. Yeah they are beauties for sure. I was surprised to get either of them and I wasn't too keen on the giving of animals as gifts but I'm grateful I have friends who tried to make me feel better when I was being a big baby about Sophie.

I felt horrible when they were given to me because I know my reaction wasn't what my friends had hoped it would be. At the time I wasn't thinking about how pretty the snakes are. I was doing a mental inventory of all the supplies I would need to buy, a vet appointment to make sure they were healthy, and the hit my bank account would take. Plus Sophie had just died and I really wanted to take the time to get over that before being brave enough to take on a new baby, ya know? I haven't dealt with my fears where Sophie was concerned so I'm finding myself paranoid that these new babies are sick and I check on them constantly. That's a big part of the reason I knew I wouldn't be ready for a new baby for awhile.

Oh well. At least I can say I have wonderful friends and I know in time I'll ease up on the paranoia and just enjoy my new babies. :)

They say that good things happen to good people, and I think this proves it. Those are some beautiful snakes to make up for such a tragic loss...
