My Setup/A Few Q's

So this is my setup for my new baby corn...
10gal tank, screen lid
repti-carpet (which I've heard that I need to switch for Aspen)
Cool-side hide, Warm-side hide
Water Dish
Fake Plants-I HAVE added more since this picture but my camera pooped out on me when I went to take another pic of the update...
Digital Thermo with a probe on the opp. end
And an analog Hygrometer
Is there anything I need to add/change???

This is a small pic/via cell phone to kind of show you it's (from now on I am going to call "it" a he, until proven otherwise:)) size in comparison to the hide.

Last Question: Can I feed him two pinkies a week IF he will take them until he gets a little bit bigger? When he bumps up a food size I will go back to once a week....

Thanks!

What are using as a heat source, a UTH? Make sure to put the thermo probe right on the glass under the substrate. If you get over 85 degrees you are going to want to buy a thermostat to reduce the heat coming off the UTH so you don't heat your snake too much, potentially burning it.

I understand that aspen is the recommended snake bedding around here... I'm not arguing against that. However, is carpet really so bad?

My heat source is the lamp above it. It stays 78 in my house during the winter, so there's his ambient temp...and it's 87 on the warm end under the lamp...no rheostat for the lamp...just tried different watt bulbs till I got the temp I needed.

my corns love to bury in the substrate. I think it helps them feel secure. I have yet to see mine out and about during the day.
