My snake is in hiding but

I need to get her out of her tank so I can put her heater in and turn the back of the viv up the right way.
I tried to do it yesterday but I couldn't find her in the tank for ages so started to panic and moved all the substrate out of the way which obviously really annoyed her cos when I did find her curled up she wouldn't let me go near her.

Now I really need to get her out but she is hiding again. How do I find her without her getting angry and trying to bite me? I've only had her a week but she has been handling fine before and she is normally hiding under her log but has now decided she prefers to bury herself.
Help please hehe

just dive right into the substrate and get her...don't hesitate & pull your hand back. if you're scared, get some wussy gloves!

If you do back off you are reinforcing what she innately knows...be mean the predator goes away... so you will teach her you are the predator and she is tough enough to chase you away. If you do the opposite and just reach in and get her period, whether or not she strikes, bites or gets mad, then she will learn you are not a predator, but that you are the boss and a nice non threatening one at that.

If it is a sudden change in behavior, likely there is a reason, possibly she is going into shed, some snakes become bitchy during the shed process or maybe has become territorial of the viv or the specific hide it is now hiding in. See this link, they were having the same problem. http://www.cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=85495
