Oh my!!! I was feeding him and he got out of the tub and went right into the vent betwwen the wall and the floor..not sure where that goes.my house is 100 years old..i put out a mouse and hides in his tub ..im worried cuz i work and have 2 cats a little dog and a 3 month old kitten. this snake is 550 gr. im not sure whether he would think the cats and dog would be food or not..im worried cuz hes up on the second floor..could be anywhere!! oh my what to do????

You might want to block of the vent to a room or two and leave your other animals in there that might help keep them away from your snake which they could seriously harm. Since you know he is in the vents you might try pulling the cover off and looking in there with a mirror and flashlight?

yeah we looked ..he went between the vent and the wall or floor..he would actually be too big to fit through the grate this one was broken from the wall and he got through.we cant see anything but tried to figure if the opening went right to the basement or just the floors..

Ah I am sorry I am sure you can do some searches here on the forum for lost snakes and you might find some advice better then what I can give you!

Well I wouldn't worry about the snake eating the cats or dog, more the other way around. While he may go for a kitten, I still the kitten would hurt the snake. I don't want to scare you but I have seen a few snakes attackes by cats. Do the vents go to a heating unit? There are traps you can set but for a 500 gr I don't know. good luck, susan

yeah the vent drops right to the basement from the second floor..he slipped not into the sheetmetal duct work but the floor or wall between the carpet and the actual duct. i have his hides a mouse and a warm heat pad near there i hope he comes out and doesnt die in there

I am very sorry to hear that he is lost - I can't imagine what you are going through. Just remember - sometimes they do turn up. My sister lost one of her 2 snakes, a 8 month old snow, and lost all hope. She turned up 7 MOMTHS later, a little skinny and jumpy but perfectly fine. 7 months if a long time and she made it back - so don't give up hope!

Thanks for the encouragement. Ill try to keep hope. 7 months is a long time to wait but i will try to put food out for him. just not sure how far he can get between the floors and walls of the house .its 3 levels and a basement. well i keep ya posted if he does turn up . my friends seem to think he will when he gets hungry or cold but i guess we will wait and see.

At least he's such a big guy you have a better chance of seeing or hearing him...Good luck.

I am still kinda confused as to where exactly he went. is there open space between the wall and floor? You might also carefully check around the carpet its possible he might have crawled under that?

My house is like 100 yrs old..and the vents are very large on the floor they have a damper to allow the heat in the room well if you remove the vent from the wall you can see 2 things .first right down the ductwork to the basement ker plunk!! and just where that is on the floor and where the carpet ends up against it there is a slit opening about 1-2" wide it seems to go under the floor like where the beams and lathe and supports for the floor are..he slipped through there.. im not sure if that has no openings big enough for him to get any further or if he has free run through the whole house..hes on the 2nd floor ..i put his heat mat with a couple hides outside the opening. im afraid hes too big for a pop bottle..im gonna call around and see if the humane society might have one of those little cameras so we can get an idea of whats under there..

Awww :( I reeeally hope you find him! Please post when you do, I'm anxious to know if he's ok. One of my corns escaped once, and I found him two days later (untouched by my cat) on my bed.

Hes been found!!!

We found Roket!! I was up late. Its was 1 am. My mom didnt know i was and i went in the snacke room to look at my pokemon cards and when I turned the light on he was right ther. She put water and a warm box for him. I put duck tape on the part to the floor and called her. She was very happy to see him he is just fine. I think he took a trip away from all of us. but we are glad he is back. she wants me to thank you for being nice to her.

Oh, I'm so happy! I had read this thread when the snake was first lost. Congratulations. The snake was in the snack room? Funny.
