I usually wait at least 36 hours after feeding Spot, to handle him. I have had him for a week and half and there has never been poop in the cage. After holding him for about an hour he will poop on me! He usually poops 2 or 3 days after he eats. And sometimes he poops two days in a row. Is this normal corn behavior??
 
Sounds normal to me. If you are handling him for an hour, he is really worlking those muscles. Try waiting 48 hours after a feed and see if he poops before you pick him up :wavey:
 
how big is your corn????my corn have never pooped on me, but then again iv never held it for more then like 20 mins...maybe he gets scared or something other people who are more knowlegable will give you a better answer.
 
Sorry to double post but I wanted to say he ate monday evening and still has not pooped I was busy yesterday so i only handled him for about 20 min and he didn't poop on me or in his tank
 
maybe now that he has been pooing on you when you take him out it stimulates him to take a poo.....thats just taking a wild guess

It's generally pretty stressful to handle a small corn for that length of time. I usually keep handling to 10-15 minutes tops when they're that small, and to further clarify, I mean 10-15 minutes per day. Constantly taking a young corn out of it's environment several times a day is just not good. Be patient, when your snake is a year or two old, you can take him out for longer periods. He'll be "happier" and so will you. Hope this helps :cheers:
 
Thanks for the help. Its kind of a bummer I love to hold him but I do want whats best for him. what about the pooping on me do you think that could be from the over handling? Thanks again.

Absolutely, like I said, all that activity after only 36 hrs. after a feed, will stimulate the need to relieve himself, let alone him being a bit nervous. :wavey:
 
Funny you post this Spot... Last night I was holding my corn and, well, it also did its business. I only had him out for around 10 mins, but its only his 3rd time going. Maybe all the motion and handling stimulates the snake. Anyway, I think I found a way to make him go if he's ever blocked up.

That's why you get more :cheers: . You can have one out all the time! When I'm home there's always a snake in my hands lol.
 
I find this very interesting because I will hold my corn Jack for very long periods of time and he has never pooped on me. Once he did on the carpet. I always wait a couple days after feeding him, but then I will hold him for very lengthy periods sometimes. I also did this with my old snake, a African house snake, and she only pooped on me once. And that was when she was getting old and I just blamed it on loss of bladder control. :rofl: Jack or Will never seem stressed out, but I'm not an expert and maybe I am missing some signs. Is there signs other than pooping that you are holding your corn to much? I too love holding Jack, but I want him to be happy!
 
raquelv, your gonna have to explain to me how anyone can hold a corn for more than 10-15 mins... I have had my corn for 2 weeks now and everytime I hold him, he wants nothing to do with me. After 5 mins, he settles down but is very active. Most of the posts say that he will settle down, but he shows no signs of it. Should I just be patient or do I just have a hyper snake?

Spot likes to slither between all my fingers and go down my arm and across my body to the other arm and hand. i let him go where he wants on my couch when i am holding him and he always stays close but he is always active, He has only stopped to hand out and chill a few times.

just be very careful with spot when hes on the couch....there was a thread not to long ago about a guys snake that got lost in his couch for a few days. he ended up getting it out luckily enough, but he mentioned moving the chairs recliner to see in better. THIS IS VERY BAD. he is very lucky that he didnt kill his snake while moving those parts inside the couch.

My couch has a cover so he cant get between the cushion or anything like that so I don't think he will get lost but thanks for the heads up.

you just dont know with some people these days though...know what i mean? some of them can be kind of...well, crazy.
