raquelv, your gonna have to explain to me how anyone can hold a corn for more than 10-15 mins... I have had my corn for 2 weeks now and everytime I hold him, he wants nothing to do with me. After 5 mins, he settles down but is very active. Most of the posts say that he will settle down, but he shows no signs of it. Should I just be patient or do I just have a hyper snake?
Well, I would say he will probably calm after awhile. Jack and Will have both calmed down over time-but it took longer than two weeks for them to do so. They dont get scared when I reach for them or pet them anymore. Since I only have two corns I can not say this for sure-but I do think snakes have different temperments. To tell you the truth, Jack is a lazy bum of a snake. If I put him on the floor of my room he will just sit there for the longest time. On the other hand, Will is very active and goes all over the place. Also, my sister's milk snake usesd to poop on her all the time and was crazy. It wanted NOTHING to do with her. But he has calmed down over time as well. He doesnt poop on her anymore and is much calmer. It took some months to do so but I would say it is worth the effort. He is now pleasant to hold.
just be very careful with spot when hes on the couch....there was a thread not to long ago about a guys snake that got lost in his couch for a few days. he ended up getting it out luckily enough, but he mentioned moving the chairs recliner to see in better. THIS IS VERY BAD. he is very lucky that he didnt kill his snake while moving those parts inside the couch.
Yes this is very dangerous. I am ashamed to say I have lost Jack in the recliner. I forgot about him when i was watching TV. We ended up taking part of the recliner off and i was practically breaking out in cold sweat thinking i was going to kill him. It was a very bad experience. If your snake is very active, I would say let him crawl on the floor. No matter how hard they try, they can't get under the carpet. I will let my corns crawl around my room like under the dresser and bed. I just make sure to close my vent. Sorry this post is so long, but I just love talking about snakes- Rachel
