My Snakes (3 larger-esk pictures)

So these are my little guys... erm girls. They're nothing even close to some of the amazing specimens on this site... but they're mine. And I would like to share them with the world!!

This is my sunglow. She was/is my first snake... Her name is Nippy. A name aptly decided upon while trying to hold her for the first time during her introduction to her first terraruim. She tagged me three or four times... and has never again since! She'll always be my favourite. Nippy is shy and a finky eater... not to mention a problem shedder. But you can't put a price on a true pet. We've been through some hard times... though she was no help! Always just staring at me and flicking her tongue. 8-P

And I would like to introduce to my second aquisition. I call her IcePick. Why? I named her because during her first ever blue phase, while in my care, her skin and eyes turned the most entrancing ice blue. And she was a bit spazztic. So I gave her a fitting "punk" name. My most ferocious little eater (at only 2'11" she downed two large adult mice this last Sunday... and it was freaky, but she handled them extremely well.) We're not quite sure what she is... There was some controversy over whether or not she is a charcoal or an anery A, or if she's an emoryi... We don't see any yellow around her neck, other than the smallest inclination of yellow-ish pigments, but it's so light it might be our imaginations. If anybody wants to let us know what they think she is, I'd love to hear it! Though I am assuming it's Anery A.

And to end my trio of crime fighters... Gracie! She was a purchase from an amazing, inspirational Canadian breeder, VanderKm! In case you were wondering, it was a name designated by Vander... But it fits her to a tee. A bit of a hellcat when you first pull her out of the cage, but she settles down quickly. And never even an attempt at a tag. She is a Hypo Snow Corn aka Coral Snow Corn. I think she is now, if not very close, capable of breeding. As of yet we don't have any males... but I hope to get some Hypo somethings from her one day.

Those are some thin saddles, which originally made me think perhaps some emoryi, but I think now looking at it she's a charcoal.

VanderKm speculated that she might be emoryi because of the amount of saddles between the head and vent are more than a normal corn... But a charcoal, eh? We looked long and hard at her neck and there does appear to be a light amberish colour creeping onto her neck... It's not the obvious yellow i've seen on other Aneries... If I can get my camera to focus better perhaps I'll try and snap another picture...

But if I can ask, and learn, what makes you think she's a charcoal?

Eh, this is confusing.

I'll recind my charcoal comment because I'm just not really sure. If she a charcoal, she's dark--if she's an anery she's very light.

Those saddles still dont sit right with me. They look an awful lot like emoryi saddles, but the coloration isn't right for an emoryi.

Maybe an anery x emoryi?

I tried...

I attempted to get a quality picture of IcePick's neck to show that amber-ish tint creeping in... but it's so faint you have to be in the right light even to see it. And I don't think the camera gets any of the pigment in question. But I KNOW it's not the standard Anery yellow neck, it's way too mollasis-esk (sorry for the spelling).

Anyways, here is the picture.

and just for arguement sake...

I found some pictures...

2 charcoals, then
2 emoryi's, and
1 Anery...

I grabbed these from around this site and even an emoryi from the Love's webpage.

I figured they would be good for a comparative analysis.

I see what you're saying about IcePick's thin saddles, but I am a n00b at identifying morphs'n stuff.

Let me know if these camparative pics make it easier to determine what my little girl is. 8-P

You have to ignore this "yellow" neck from the anery stuff.

All anerythristics dont have yellow necks, and some charcoals do. It's a wide range---so just because there's a tinge of yellow doesn't really mean much.

The saddles scream emory, to me at least. They dont look like 'normal' corn saddles. The color doesn't jump out as emory, at least I dont think it does.

I'm still sticking with my guess of either anery/charcoal x emory.

But hey, could very well just be an emory, or not be one at all.

I see what you're saying... If it were completely Emoryi, do you know a breeding mate that would help me to prove it?

I know even less about integrade genetics than I do corn x corn genetics.

I will solve this mystery, one day.
