Hi Everyone
Well, all 27 eggs hatched last week and they are gorgeous. One of them came out of the egg biting and rattling his tail and he hasn't stopped since. It is a real nightmare trying to change his water and paper tissue, he strikes at anything and everything.
Has anyone else had a hatchling like this? do you think he will eventually calm down?

he starting eating with no problem though :)

Remember this baby is going by pure instinct, that behavior is pre-drilled into them to keep them alive from predetors in the wild; so it really has no indication of what their actual personality is besides how outgoing they are.
 
yes i can understand that, i did have a couple in last years clutch that bit and rattled for a couple of days but after handling them a few times they settled down. This one just seems possessed lol

Attack Snake!

You will have to handle them until their fear of you is gone. I have one this year that chewed on my thumb for a while till he had enough. Now he just crawls in my hand. It is amazing that some are calm as can be and some that are "Attack Snakes"!

The majority of my 19 this year were rattlers and strikers. It was actually kind of cute. Like DaemoNox said, it's their way to scare off predators.

At almost a month old, none of them do it anymore.
 
I have a couple of them that are nasty including the two I got from Stephen. I can't wait till they mellow! Little monsters! I do have quite a few that are downright mellow though. Those take after their father obviously. He was mellow from day one. I mark those containers so that when I sell to a first time owner, they will get something easy to handle.
 
I've got one that was chewing on me as I was popping her. Some are more "het cobra" than others. Good luck.
 
I bought one like that, i'd walk by the glass tank and he woulld strike at me. Luckily so far, the 12 that have hatched out of 16 haven't even attmpted to bite, strike, rattle.. etc.
 
Thanks for all your reply's, its good to know i'm not the only one who has a psycho hatchling. 'Satan' is still striking but not as often now lol i will keep handling him as often as i can.
