I See Snakes...
Yep, the last of the clutches are ready to face the world. All of them pipping at under 78 - a record for this year I think... lol...
There was also the clutch that hatched out last week, whose pictures I just haven't gotten around to posting yet. I am soooo far behind on my pics that it ain't even funny.
Anyway, what's hatched out and hatching now?
Well last week, it was Beryl and Shale's clutch (Rootbeer x Ultramel Anery) and we hatched out an even split, half rootbeers and the other half mostly ultramel creams and one or two lonely creamcicles. Overall, I'm very pleased with this clutch. They are beautiful!
The next clutch is actually half related to that first clutch, actually - completely related now that I think about it. Nepheline (sister to Shale) was paired up with Monster (brother to Beryl) to give us another batch of rootbeers, creamcicles, ultramel creams, AND at least one Anery Rootbeer and what is either a snowcicle or an ultramel Anery cream.
Amazing what one little hidden gene will do to a clutch eh? I knew Nepheline, the female, was possibly het for anery, but had no Idea that Monster was - seeing as how he'd come from a creamcicle x Miami pairing. Just goes to show you how those hidden genes can pop up in the most unexpected places. Not that I am complaining, mind you! lol...
The next clutch also had a surprise gene involved. Topaz, a normal het caramel possible het hypo was paired up to Ryolite, a quint het boy. (Amel, Anery, Hypo, Caramel, and Motley)
First nose out? Was an Amel! lol, what a shocker that was - though again not completely unexpected given how common the amel gene really is. We've got several other noses peeking out already, but it's hard to say what they are at this point. Can't wait to see them out of the egg so I know for sure!
And the last clutch? Is actually one I never expected to hatch for us. Some of you may remember the striped girl, Magnolia, whom we lost earlier this year due to eggbinding. Well, the first nose has pipped and guess what? It's a snow! So, our beautiful girl was het for anery. I don't know whether it's striped or not, but it does have a neat head pattern.
I'll try and get the pictures cropped and uploaded for posting tomorrow so you can see the last of our early Christmas presents coming out at last! lol
