Neat cheap photo project idea

So today I was a bit bored & opened the closet to find some old frames I had picked up and had done nothing with in over a year.

I threw together this little 3" x 3" thing with some chopped up 4" x 6" prints that I had done at wal-mart for about 9 cents a print.

Total cost was under $10 between the photos and the frame itself. I believe I picked up the frame from Michaels or AC Moore, they're often on sale for half off and come with the matting included.

It is now proudly hanging in the snake room (or office, whatever you want to call it!)

If only I had a snake friend...

::sniff sniff::

I consider myself lucky if I get a friend to hold the snake for a few seconds. Can't say any of them are real snake / reptile lovers though :(

Yep, same here.
Heck, any friends would be nice.
But it is a eye catcher and nice display of your snake.

What a neat idea, Jen! I'm pretty sure you have inspired me to do something productive tomorrow... :grin01:

It's ok, Jen. Don't feel too bad. I can hardly think of anyone here in the Texas Panhandle that are snake/reptile lovers. I'm not saying there are none, they are just few and far between. :(

Yeah, I guess that's why I post here. It's ok though, I can get friends just by clicking buttons on this site!

Click! Click!

Make sure you post some pics if you do put something together!

Hey, I guess you're right! You just clicked and made me your friend. Haha! :grin01:

I will definitely post a picture or two if I manage to get it done tomorrow! Just gotta get my happy butt to Walmart first.... :D

You know what I did? I am so lazy that I went to the walmart.com photo center and uploaded my pics. Then it let me crop them and pay with paypal for 1 hour photos. I then got ready, headed out, picked up lunch then swung by and voila! Pictures were done!

Well shoot...I guess I will have to check into the walmart.com photo center!

But first I have to find, or take, some photo's worthy of a frame!

VERY nice Jen! Jay loves working in marco and I have a floor frame that holds 4 8"x11"s and I love it.

I can be your snake friend!! LOL I am glad to have friends that like my animals. Funny how it is mostly relatives that cant stand my animals! Let alone hold any of them.

You have a friend in me Lenny!!

Jen that is a just a lovely set of photos and in a great frame. What an eye catcher and conversation starter.

Very pretty!! Nice and unique too. I'll have to remember that idea for when my camera is fixed. *pout* Wonderful Nikon just sitting there because I don't have the $70+ dollars to fix it or more to buy a new one. And my digital is just no good for Macro shots.

I'll be your snake friend, too! I mentioned my Sweetie to my co-workers and one of them just about passed out. She is terrified of snakes. I don't understand why. A corn wouldn't hurt a fly! A mouse maybe, but that is beside the point. :)

I love the idea; especially for the production price. Sadly their probably aren't many people who find snake pictures pretty, or artistic, but it would be cool if people found them as interesting as I do. Then you may be able to make some money off of it. As for frames, my mom's an artist and she get's most of her frames from Michael's. Great prices, and at a pretty good variety. I hope to see more of them!.

I never took so many macros before I got this little guy. I bet you guys have a ton & a half of snakes to take awesome pictures of!

Yay I have snake friends now!! I know what you mean about the relatives, my mom came up for Easter and touched Colonel and simultaneously screamed. I mean touched like...with one fingertip really fast :shrugs:.

If it were up to me I'd put another viv in the guest room, but I've been voted down unfortunately.

Aww, sorry to hear your camera is broken. I just have a little point & shoot 8 mp Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS. Nothing fancy. It seems to be taking alright macros though!

I send "cute" snake pics around at work, but I never seem to get the response I'm looking for. I even sent around a cute one of him popping his head out of a cup. Nothing. I don't get it!! How could you not love these guys?!

Speaking of...Micheals has a 60% off your custom framing order going on now through this coming Sat. The lady who I spoke with mentioned that they don't often do the 60% off sales, only a few times a year, so now is the time if you want something custom framed! I just bought an art print from my friend, and they helped me quote a price today. I can get something decent for $130-140 range instead of $300ish. I don't often do the custom framing otherwise.

If you only knew! We have over 100 snakes and other reptiles here. That does not include any eggs or hatchlings for 2009! Yes, Jay loves to take pictures! I have tons upon tons of pictures and tons in marco as well!

If you ever are in the area of Southern Maine, you should give me a call and stop on by and take a look for yourself Jen!

I would love to! My husband is thinking right now that we'll be a one-snake household, but I would love to pick up another some day. I have a feeling we'll have to move first. My ideal is two snakes, don't tell him!!! He's not very enthused by the idea right now...

Where about are you in Southern Maine? I work in Portsmouth so it's not too far off. Oh hey, I bet I could check your website and answer my own question, eh?

...South Portland? Ok that is a bit of a hike! But hey, I may find an excuse to venture up there sometime! You know, I have never held a full grown corn, I sure would like to see one in person someday!

I am about one hour from Portsmouth NH. Fiftyone or so miles, city to city. Did you see my thread on "Who has the Biggest Corns"? You want to see some big corns...take a look at this thread:

Yes, all but one on my posts, are here in house! Along with about 100 or so more.

I wont tell the hubby a word about any snakes...:dgrin::sidestep:

Hehe. I've told Hubby I'm getting another snake. I think their little faces are so cute and Sweetie is just so sweet and lovie!! He rolled his eyes but thankfully hasn't told me no! Of course, he can't tell me no more snakes if he thinks he's going to get a bearded dragon.

If you decide to come up and visit, let me know too! I'm in Windham, which is about 25 or so minutes from S. Portland depending on which way I drive and how many cops I run into. :grin01:

Tons of snakes, yessss!!! :D:D:D

Okay, maybe you should hold an open house so we can all visit, lol!

Can't you just hire me and I'll quit my day job?

P.S. There's no speed limit in Maine, silly!

Oh man I wish I had the money to do that. I like to paint, mainly on canvas/canvas board, but I have no frames for my art. If I had the money I would definitely look at it.
