Neat Tank Project

So since I can only keep 2 corns right now, I decided to actually put them in a nice "display" type setup and save the tubs for when I have room to have a rack.
One is a 10 gal, the other is a 5 gal.
Basically what I did was tape of a portion of the front of the tank with masking tape...leaving an inch of exposed glass on the top and bottom.
I then took Krylon spray paint and went over the back and sides and the top and bottom inch (the part that wasn't covered with tape on the front) of the front. Doing one section at a time and letting it dry, so that it wouldn't run when I flipped it to do another section.
It only takes about 15 minutes to dry to the touch, so it didn't take too long.
I did this about two days ago, so any fumes would be gone before I put the snakes in, and Krylon is "snake-safe" paint, so I use it for homemade hides, such as the green tupperware painted hides in the 5 gal.

Here is the 10 gal:

With the 5 gal on the back I put a layer of the dark green, then covered it with the black. This makes it the back ground look green when looking in from the front, but looking from the outside the tank has a uniform black all around. The second pic shows from the inside how the background is dark green and the sides are black:

Sorry for the reflection/glare, I'm by no means a professional photographer :D

Overall I think it gives the snakes added security, since they can only see the "outside world" from the front of the tank instead of all around them.
And IMO it gives it a nice look :D
Let me know what you think or if you want some better pics...

I agree. You're right, that does dress up a simple glass viv, and its easy. The snake probably feels better , and it looks better.

Thanks Alan...

The 10 and 5 gal share a large UTH, so they are flush up against each others side...so I figured if they couldn't see out it would reduce some stress that may be involved with that...(and I think it looks gooood:) )

I really like the idea of this and the way it looks.
I think I may consider doing this for my 20L when I put one of my babies in there in the near future.

Thanks for sharing this!
