Need Help...Heating...

So I use an UTH on my tanks to provide heat. That's not the problem. However, I want to get a new enclosure for them, I want one that's made out of wood and has a stand built in, and all that cool jazz. I dont know how to heat it. I don't think I can set an UTH on wood and not burn my house down. I'm afraid if I put lamps then my snakes will get burnt cuz they like to skim the top. Help?! Can I put in heat lamps and not worry? Or do I need to find a different type of enclosure?

If you use a thermostat to control the UTH it will never get hot enough to burn wood. I use UTHs under melamine vivs and they're absolutely fine. The melamine is about 1/4 inch thick.

Heat cable? its perfectly safe to use on the bottom inside the viv as far as I have understood, I ve seen ppl to make carved lines in the bottom to put the cable in then cover it with insulation tape.

Just another idea - have an extra bottom of plexiglass & place the uth between the wood & plexi - might be easier to keep too
