i was looking into making a viv so that i could also get a ball python. i am going to put it on the ground but it will be raised a few inches for ventalation. i is going to be two ontop of each other, but it is going to be one unit.i want each one to be about 40"18"20. i also want the fronts to be wear it opens. i would like it to be made out of wood and screen. is there any ideas and what type of wood could i not use besides pine and cider. i am putting a corn in one and a ball python in one. or do u have stores that sel vivs for cheap. i am only 13 and dont have much cash. i also want it to be like a display case almost, not jut some sweater boxes. i also would like to get some plan on how to make a rat breeding rack. it is going to have about 5 inclosers, and how to make the inclosues

Vivarium, believe it means an enclosure that also houses live plants and sometimes running water -

BTW, I have been learning what it is to take care of ball pythons, and I have been conversing with a BC breeder named Jeff Favelle. He told me that balls in an enclosure are actually more problematic than those kept in a rack!

If you want to place them in a display enclosure, I suggest talking to this guy about it - Which you can do on www.ssnakess.com - Just find the Ball python forum and mention his name in the subject line.

I had some, unfortunately mortal, misfortune when keeping my ball in an enclosure - While I doubt you will have such severe problems, I am an advocate for understanding what you're getting into with these balls, due to their frustrating ways... Hope this information helps!! Good luck, dude.
 
A vivarium is a place where living animals are kept. It can be just an old aquarium tank with bedding and a hide plus water container, or it can be as elaborate as you want it to be -- i.e., have living plants and a water area with fish, etc.

If you are using wood, just remember that you are going to be dealing with humidity, so you want to seal it with an acrylic based sealent and a glossy or semi-gloss acrylic paint that is washable and moisture resistant (just ask your paint store guy).

And Balls don't need anything fancy. They are easy to keep and do not move around as much as Corns will. :twoguns:
