PaperTowels, Shreded paper, or newspaper..what should i use?

Even if its a baby can i still use my fairly lrge tank?

A water dish, Hidebox, and a lil branch type thing in the cage..right?

A day lamp and a night lamp or only one?

How do i go abut heating it..how do i no how warm it is in he cage, do i need an undertank heater??

There are just some of the questions i hae..Please help me out guys i would like to go out looking for a Corn tomorow..THANX a lot:)

1. Paper towels will work fine for the substrate. I have my hatchling on paper towels and my adult on aspen shavings.

2. How big is your fairly large tank? My baby is in a 10 gallon tank, and my adult is in a 20 gallon long tank. If the tank really is too large, you can put a divider in there for now. If your tank is somewhat large, just put plenty of hides in there so your little snake will feel safe.

3. Your list looks fine, except that you should have two hides. One should be on the warm side of the tank and the other on the cooler side so your corn can choose between temperatures.

4&5. Actually, you'll probably be fine without any lights, unless your tank is in a very dark area. An undertank heater is normally all you need for heat. Put the undertank heater under one side of the tank to create a temperature gradient. On the warm side of the tank, the temperature should be in in the mid-80's (F) just above the substrate. On the cooler side, the temperature should be about 75 F. You can buy aquarium thermometers at a local pet store and stick them on the sides of the tank.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. :)

Yes and just some advice pick up the "Corn Snake Manual" by Kathy Love... Itll anwser all your questions on what is what... and it makes really good reading material... And it has lots and lots of Pictures!

I'll advise you to thoroughly research corns before buying one. I don't want to lecture you but I really think it would be best. Buying a reptile without even knowing what temperature to keep it at or how to provide that heat isn't wise.

i agree. i have done alot of reading on the net and it has helped me and given me alot of info. i suggest you do the same.
