hi....my yearling ghost corn got out of his tank so how last night....I've bee looking for hrs and can't dfind him.....what should I do?...I got him last week....he is due for a feeding tommorow....will he eventually come out when he is ready or will he hide and eventually just die?.....I'm worried and need to find him quick...because if my mom finds him b4 me ill be dead and prbly have to get ride of all ofthem that I have....shd doesn't know that he's missing yet...please help me
 
um.. that sucks. okay, if you keep them in your room, keep the door closed and look in all the dark warm places you can find and think that the snake may go to. If you have a liter soda bottle, cut off the top third of the bottle and invert it into the body of the bottle. Put a fuzzy in there and leave it somewhere in a corner. the snake will be able to get in but wont be able to find its way out. If you have blue painters tape, (its sticky but not damaging) lay it sticky side up along the walls, around the soda bottle trap, in front of your closet. The snake will crawl across it and get "stuck" and you can catch him. Good luck in finding him. I lost my corn too and am still looking for her so I know how you feel. Oh yeah, also put out a bowl of water.
 
ladydragon has great info . I would add try keeping the room dark as possilbe. With luck,the snake may come out into the open. Food should be a good lure as well. What your mom doesnt know, wont hurt her for now .Snakes can live along time without a meal so I wont die if it doesnt eat right away .Good luck
 
need help

If you have a cool room try putting a hide somewhere quiet, put a heat mat under it and leave a dead pinkie on top of the hide.
also spreading talc around helps find where they are because you can see the tracks they leave when they move around.
I lost a corn for over a year (and a cold winter) but he showed up again.
 
Put something under the door to block the space under it. My young corn easily slipped out of there.
 
he got out last night..do u thinl he left the room already....and if I put the trap by the closet will he hear or like smell the mouse?.....and is there a way to make the scent bigger?
 
It's possible but you never know. He could be hiding in plain sight! Look under his viv, up in the curtains or blinds, in drawers.....they can fit anywhere. Found mine by putting out pinkies in a container. He ate it then went into hiding.
 
You can place a large bowl of water in the room as well. My snake ALWAYS comes out for a drink when I place fresh water in his viv. NOT that the old water is allowed to get dirty.. they just seem to love fresh spring water.Oh check behind the radiator cover in your room .He could have gone along the wall and found that as a new hide. Good luck. Im sure we are all rooting for you to find him.Also,try spraying a mist bottle with fresh water in the room above the fresh water bowl.Snakes come right out to investigate water..
 
should I put it in a cornor like it is in the viv or just put in out in the open?....and if I can't find hom would he eventually like show himself to me when he gets to hungry?.....and also my room is like 70 most of the time os that going to put him in a bromative state?
 
I would put it in a spot that isn't too much in the open. He might feel too threatened to come out in the middle of the room. 70 will not put him into brumation. Temps need to be much lower and usually accompanied by darkness. My corns routinely hang out on the cool side of the tank and it's only in the low 70's or lower in the winter.
 
ok....so if I can't find him then what do I do?....I feel like I'm tortureing him b/c he isn't gonna have any food and then won't he just die?

try all the things people have told you here,water food heat and solitude are the keys.
recently while out herpin (looking for slow worms) we turned over a board and found a couple, we picked them up and looked at them and put the board back. when we put them back down they made there way back to the same board , even though it was several feet away and they could of all gone anywhere. they knew the area and knew home.
your snake is a born survivor it can go weeks without eating and it won't be far away.
just be careful not to injure it while looking for him
try the talc trick tonight see if you got tracks in the morning

ok thanks....the only problem is that I have carpet in my room and I can't put the talc down cuz then it will be a big mess and two my mom will relize something is up...I put the trap out last night by the closet and I have a bowl off water by the heater so hopefully he will see the mouse and go for the trap
 
i have said this already in another lost snake thread I know but i thought it was worth mentioning, i found my snake behind my dvd player around a wire so if you have any electrical equipment check behind because hot air radiates from them, also search for lost snakes and how the owners found them. it could be usefull. Good luck!
 
You can try the painter's tape also. Lay it down sticky side up. Doesn't hold super strong and you can use a little vegetable oil to get it off.
 
Hello mate, don't worry too much, i have read many times were corns go missing but they always return, or you find them, sometimes they may even take months to find, you see corns can last a very long time without food, so don't worry about food, and snakes will find warmth, if your snake stays inside then he will be looking for the warmest place, generally around heaters, maybe a drying machine, or maybe your wardrobe, I suggest looking in all these place's, and just remember not to get yourself all stressed out,

i found him.....wow..he was underneth the mouse tank...i didn't think he could fit underneth it..omg...thanks gusy so much
 
good job man. I'm still looking for mine. I got some hamster bedding from the pet store today that I'm going to put in a viv with a heating pad underneath. No luck for me yet :(
