Hey, I know this is a reptile site, but I was wondering if there are any computer geeks that could help me out. My HP laptop won't charge. It's plugged in but it just always says it's 0% full... Why and how do I fix this...? Anyone? :confused:

Oh! this just happened to HP right after I put two 512 chips in, got a new mouse as I had worn out the touch pad, and bought a new power cord. It is the pin the power cord fits on it won't make proper contact. To fix $150.00-200.00 no guarantee. So mines sitting on the shelf. Is your connection at the computer wiggley? So sorry, suang

My boyfriend is a computer geek & he said that you need to go to the Power Management Window.

Hang on...I'm finding out more...
 
Go to the lower right hand side of the desktop on the taskbar, and there is a "little battery" there (as he said it...) -- right-click over the battery -- and it should say "Select Power Plan"...

From there, see what power plan you are offered...

Ok, now my boyfriend is saying that it's not connected right, the connection is loose...:bang: Try to get a straight answer...:shrugs: (Men, they just don't listen...!)

They have options for: Custom plan, high performance and power saver. It was on Custom I believe... It doesn't do anything though. I think it's connected ok, I don't think it's loose.
 
The thing with my HP is the battery is so dead it does nothing won't come on. I do know the problem and wiggled and would hold it so it was touching correctly but then nothing would work. Actually I'm glad I'm quilting again, not glued to the laptop. susan

When it's connected, is there a light that lights up? All HPs will do that when connected right...and fyi: my boyfriend keeps his on "power saver"...

I'm grateful that I haven't had too many problems with computer hardware, and if anything, my boyfriend is right here to fix it for me, as I'm prone to slap & kick the computer. Corporal punishment can be a very good thing. :)

I won't get a laptop because I know that I'd become more of an addict! :p Have you noticed that I've been posting like mad since winter break started??? :p (I'm sure that this forum will be *thrilled* when I finally return to school!)

Diagnosis: your battery is completely dead. Potential cost for a new battery: $50-$100. That's what happened to his former laptop.

I'm sorry...:( Maybe get a second opinion? Where did you buy it -- can you take it back?
 
I guess we're going to have to buy a new battery, crap. lol
But, the computer is gonna have to work with being plugged in for now.
