HI every one. Have not been on in a while but i am back and i am having problems. My corn snake roughly around 2 years old i would think as she is around 3 and a ahlf feet long. When i feed her she eats her live mouse easily but the last few feedings it almost looks like she eats it and then poops the last one from the previous week out. She has never done this and i am wondering if this is normal. The stool is also quite a large pile. Is this dangerous. She shows no signs of sickness and is generaly pretty mobile around dusk and night. She drinks fine and sheds fine. Plz help as i need some answers. Thank you Coryell

Hi Coryell.
How often are you feeding your snake?
How long is it from feeding until you see the "large pile". Are you sure the large pile is stool?

I feed once a week every monday and it is a adult live mouse. After the snake eats i see the pile within 5 minutes but i can see the mouse he just ate at his midbelly.

Well i am still new to owning snakes so the pet store i bought him from told me nothing about temps and i just have a under tank heat pad. Could you plz tell me what the temps and humitity should be and then i can check. Thanks coryell

If you have a heat pad it is probably too hot. They normally get to be 100, so you will need to get a digital thermometer and thermostat. Warm side should be 86 degrees F and the cool side should be 75 degrees F. Not sure what the humidity should be because I do not have any problems with that where I live.

Humidity's a little more random, for lack of a better term. I've mostly read that it should be around 40% regularly, but mine is usually in the upper 20's to mid 30's range, and I haven't even had shedding problems in at least 6 months.. We've had her for a year as of next week. -shrug- I hope it helps, and good luck getting your baby back on the straight 'n narrow. =)

I don't really think this is something I'd worry about. I have a few snakes that are fed weekly that almost always poop in the feeding tub. The activity of eating and moving around can have this effect... You should double check your temps and humidity if you don't know what those are, but it sounds like the snake is digesting fine, even if not as fast as you expected..
