Actually there are Pine Snakes in SC.

Yes, but not Black Pines - SC has Northern Pines and Southern Pines - which look much different than a mostly black snake.

Same here. I've had a fascination with snakes pretty much my entire life.
I hate seeing people's reactions when they see a Garter Snake or Black
Rat Snake. ... It's immediately killed and people are told they killed a
"moccasin" or a "Copperhead". Every snake someone sees is venomous
and fact is they will encounter 10-15 (or more) harmless snakes to every
one venomous snake they see. Even the venomous breeds are beautiful
creatures that just want to be left alone and will not harm anyone as
long as you don't antagonize them. The first snake I ever had was a wild
caught Corn snake. Some people from work had it cornered in a warehouse
and were going to kill it. One of them knew about my passion for snakes,
and came to get me from my office to look at it..... It was a young adult
Corn snake scared out of its wits trying to defend itself against three people
who said they thought it was a copperhead. She is now a large (4+ foot)
healthy adult Corn Snake living in my den.

Ive loved snakes since . I can remember . When i livef in nevada i would get calls from friends cause a snake was in there yard snd they wanted to now it was poisonous then if i would remove it. There were many times they were gopjer or glossys but there were rattlers too. All it takes is caution to catch and release .they r more scared of u . So people please dont trip out and evertone should be educated of the venomous animals in there area.
