Sellotape = clear adhesive tape for wrapping parcels, surely you have something similar over there? ;)

I have changed heated ends before, when moving tanks from one side of the room to the other, I like to keep the heated end nearest the window, don't ask me why. All I do is make sure all the warm end stuff, goes back in the warm end and the stuff from the cool end, goes into the new cool end, does that make sense, I think so, that or I've finally lost it :p :crazy02:

Ok ok, I know I've lost it, not too sure if I had it in the first place though :p

I'm just so tired after doing my summer clean out, 18 huge tanks in 2 days is not bad going though :D

I'll try to remember to say scotch tape in future, oh and don't use it inside the tank, only outside, but you knew that already ;) I just said it in case a newbie reads this :)

So, if you don't attach the heat mats to the bottoms of the tubs what do you attach them too???
 
No, you DO attach them to the bottom, Jenstar. But unlike some, the zoo med for instance, they have an adhesive on them that sticks to the bin or the tank. I've not personally tried to remove these, but I've read and the instructions say that you can destroy the wiring in the mat trying to pull them off. With the type mentioned here, you use tape to place it where you want it, and then you can move them if necessary.

Ahh, but the caveat, there are numerous types of "scotch" tape. Someone might mistake it for gift wrapping tape. ;)

Probably the "smarterest" people like Brent, Wade and Nanci knew exactly what you meant! ;D

The heat mats in the link Lori posted, can be attached to the underside of the tubs with tape, or they can be taped to the surface the tub is sitting on, or left loose if you are careful to reposition when replacing the tub. :) I was trying to say that, unlike some of the mats that have the adhesive already on, these can be removed and reused without damaging the mat.

I even use them to back heat hatchling racks, as our climate is cooler over here and my racks need the additional heat, by taping them to some polystyrene at the back of the shelf.

I hope that's a bit clearer :)

Oh Lori, now you're cracking me up, you must be one of the "smarterest" people too, because *you* knew what I meant :p

Well over here we use "clear 1 inch wide adhesive tape" for wrapping gifts, Christmas parcels etc, then we have some "yucky brown coloured 2 inch wide adhesive tape" that we wrap parcels that go in the mail, I'm talking about the first type for attaching the mats, although both would probably do the job, does that make more sense :shrugs:
 
Ahh, ok.....we use 1/2 in. tape for gifts, but 2" tape for shipping, packing boxes, etc. I have some of that ugly brown tape too, but..it's ugly. ;)

I do believe I've totally hijacked my own thread.

Considering the fact that a snake that has escaped will go right back to the spot in the cage they got out of before . . . I'd say yes, they do have a sense of direction AND memory.

With that said, changing their heat from one end to the other isn't going to mess them up too much. It's kinda like changing the furniture around in the living room without telling your husband. It'll mess him up for a bit, but he'll get used to it especially if you make sure to tell him where the remote is! :D

LOL! My husband gets soooooo mad when I pull that crap on him! :laugh:

All the joking aside, I figured that it might disorient him a bit but that he'd get over. I'll do as Sue suggested as well by keeping his decor the same, just reverse it all. I think my corn will be cozier in a smaller tank anyway. Thinking back, he was much more active in the 20 than he is in the 40. Now I only see him on feeding days other than when handling. If my new king is anywhere as active as my baby, he'll definitely appreciate the space.
