Need tips and guidelines for new baby cornsnake

So in a couple months I'll be getting my first reptile, a corn snake haha, and I was wondering a couple things
1. Is it a better deal if I buy the Deluxe Snake Enclosure/Kit from Exo terra or buy everything individually.
2. When will the snake outgrow a 20 gal tank (still yet to purchase according to 1.)
Thanks for any advice [emoji16]

Corn snakes don't require UVB light, under-tanks are better, and last I checked the delux setups only come with lights so it would probably be cheaper to buy things individually. Check out the "sticky" threads under the Husbandry section.
Best of Luck!

Looking at the snake kits, it would be cheaper buying things individually. Also, a corn snake can stay in a 20 Gal its whole life, but it would be better to have a 40B for a full grown adult. If its a baby, i would not go any bigger than a 10 gal tank, snakes get stressed out in big spaces. Heres some things you are going to need:

A 10 - 40G Tank, depending on size
A Thermostat to control the temperature of your heat mat
A UTH (Under tank heater)
Screen clips are a must have, unless you get a locking tank, books or other heavy things will also work.
Bedding (Aspen, coco fiber, paper towel, news paper, etc)
A hiding place
A water bowl
And of course, some snake food.

You might also want to get a gram scale so that you can weigh your snake and find out what it needs to be eating, how often, etc.

I wouldn't spend much money on decorations for your little guy either....the 2 corns I have just love small boxes and paper towel rolls to hide in. They are SWEET animals and I wish you the best of luck!!!!!

With a UTH, it is super important to have a thermostat to control the temps because they can get too hot unregulated. My recommendation (used by me and countless other members) is THIS one, because it is safe, cheap and simple to use.

If you go with a larger tank for a small snake, its totally fine, just make sure there are lots of hides/coverage - otherwise a small snake can get very stressed out. There should be hides on both the warm side and cool side so they snake has a secure place at any temperature.

Best of luck!

Exactly as i said, jag. Ive never seen that thermostat before, looks nice.. I use Zilla thermostats. Not the best ever, but they work super well.
