I just got a really good deal on a 40ft. tank and am hoping its not too big for my 1 yr old (well about 19 months). She was previously in a 15 gallon only and is just over 3 1/2 feet long, so I had been on the eye out for something bigger. i could not resist buying this tank and am wondering if she'll adjust okay in the bigger tank? her temps will be the same and I added a couple more sticks and another hide, so she'll have a hide on each side as well as in the middle, and then her tubes to go to the other side if she wants. anything else you guys can recommend ? im also trying aspen for the first time as i have been using paper towel, i plan to move her into the new tank tomorrow as she jsut ate her 1st adult mouse 2 days ago.

It sounds fine, I beleive in bigger is better and I breed corn snakes. Each of my adult males are housed in 50 gallon tanks. I'm building a 120 gallon viv to house three of my adults in. So a 40 gallon tank is great, good luck. Aspen is propably the best substract you could use. Corns love to burrow and aspen is great for that.

Missie, I can't blame you, I would have snatched it up too! Your setup sounds fine to me, and I'm sure once your snake gets used to it, all will be good. Vines would provide alot of hiding places and more security, check your local dollar store. Eventually, if it could, I'm sure your snake would give you a big thumbs up for the extra space. :wavey:
i just put my 3.5 foot female in a 55 gallon today and shes loving it. i felt bad for her in a 50 gallon cuz she couldnt strech all the way and my friend was getting rid of his tank so i was in luck. but i try to give her as much floor space as possible with a thick layer of aspen.
well so far so good, i put her in the tank lastnight and she right away knew it was different, although she went straight to her shirt (i have a shirt of mine in there and she just loves it, makes a little hide under it). and today she just keeps peeking out of the shirt, almost as if she's intimidated to go anywhere else, i hope it doesnt freak her out
