Lovin' my corn
I am contemplating adopting a cornsnake that was offered to me from the local animal shelter. There is still a lot I need to find out about it first, so I don't know much about it yet, but I was wondering where I can find info that is for a new owner that pertains to adults. The one thing I know is that it is already full grown and very friendly. Almost all new owner info pertains to babies. For example, how often to feed, how soon after bringing home, how soon to handle, etc. THANKS!

That's general info regardless of age.

Feed one adult mouse per week (7 days) and give it at least 3 days to settle in before handling, but I'd personally wait a week before you feed it just so things go smoothly.

As far as other questions to ask, I'd go with:

A rough age of the snake, if possible.

The sex of the snake--or find out for yourself, if you can. That might go a long way in helping to explain if 'he' doesn't want to eat during the Spring, or if you suddenly find eggs one day without another snake being present.

What morph the snake is, if you care.

There's not really much that you can find out. Obviously you cannot request feeding schedules and such, so that limits things.

You could always also ask what substrate the snake was being kept on, and how often and what it was being fed.

Welcome to the forum! You'll find most of the answers that pertain to youngsters, pertain to adults as Joe pointed out. The FAQ section will answer most of your questions, and frequent use of the search button will help as well. It would be great to see a picture of your new addition when you get it too.
