New at this, male corn snake acting feisty?

Hello all!

My name is Courtney, and I just brought home my first snake about six months ago. I have owned reptiles my whole life, but I have never owned a snake. When a friend offered to give me one I was beyond excited. He is an albino, about 3 1/2 to 4 feet long and seems to be in good health. He was dropped off at a pet store from an owner that didn't have time to take care of him, so my friend brought him to me. He seems to be in fantastic health. Very gentle, doesn't mind being held, loves to explore, and has always taken food. About eight weeks ago he stopped eating and became extremely active. I had no idea how powerful and smart he was until he actually escaped his tank about 6 weeks back and went on a little adventure downstairs (I have that remedied now). I have been reading some things online that seem to say that this behavior is typical for male corn snakes during mating season. I know my bearded dragon can get this way as well until early summer. Is this type of behavior normal? He won't stop moving, just constantly. I took him outside to move around and he lifted his back end twice like he was going to poop, but never did. He even pulled back when a neighbor walked by as if he was going to strike until the neighbor left. This evening I went upstairs and was cleaning his water and he would jolt every time I touched him. Made me a little nervous for sure. Thank you for any thoughts!
