New Babies

Hi-

I just got three little babies today. They say they were hatched in September, but they are SO tiny. I'm looking for my old scale I had when I had snakes 2 years ago to weight them. But, just from eyeing them up, they are tiny. My first instinct is to feed them, NOW. LOL But, I know I should wait. How long do I have to wait to try to feed. I feel a week is too long.

As long as they have been eating well up to now, they can wait quite awhile. I would give them 3-5 days to settle in before feeding.

Ideally you want to give them a couple of days especially as they are young and the big move will stress them my snakes the adults get fed on the same day so if that happens to be the first day they are with me thats when they get fed but babies I give a few days.

I just weighed them. I'm assuming (haven't asked yet) that the date on the deli cups is their birth date. It says 9/7/2007 on all of them. They are only 6, 7 & 8 grams each. Seems awful small to me. On the up side, while I had the scale out I weighed my adult corn that I have. He weighed in at a whopping 912 grams :)

The babies seem active and alert. I just can't wait till their first feed to make sure they're going to eat. Nervous Mom, that's all.

They should be fine; I had babies that were 4g each and problem feeders and now they are doing great.

Thank you, now I just have to wait until I can hold them and play with them. :) But, the wait is worth it.
