New Baby Corn Eating troubles

I just not my new baby Albino corn snake 5 days ago. The store which i got him from has just gotten him in about 5 days prior but was successful in getting him to eat 1 pinkie on october 4th. Its now October 14th and my little guy wont eat the pinkies i offer him (frozen/thawed in warm water then "brained"). He just shed on Saturday night so i figured he would have a big appetite but he doesn't show even the slightest interested in the pinkies i give him.

When i try to feed him i put him in his travel tank and wrap a blanket around it so he can have his privacy and put it near my space heater so it stays plenty warm i then dangle it in front of him for a few minutes trying to get him interested finally when he doesn't eat i leave him in there with the pinkie for about a half hour each time.

What am i doing wrong? why wont this little bugger eat?

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Since I keep all my hatchlings on a folded paper towel to monitor them for poop vs. regurg I don't disturb any of them to feed, the less stress the better.

I'm assuming you've done your homework and have their husbandry down pat?? Just drop the pink on the paper towel and leave it alone. If you do this after dark, you won't need to towel wrap it and keep it by the heater. Most likely it will come around but again, the less stress the better. Good luck!

it happend to me to but buzzard gave these grate advice hope it works for u

Buzzard : Try this, Put her in a deli cup or small tupperware container(make sure there are air holes). As hot as the tap water will get, thaw your pinkie, make sure it is thawed all the way through , then get a small cup of Hot as the tap will get water, and dunk the pinkie in it for a few more minutes. Then place the pinkie in the deli cup with the snake already in it. Put the deli cup in the enclosure and let it be. It wont burn the snake. Do this in the evening and let it be until morning or until she has eaten.

How hot is the space heater making the travel tank? Too hot and he could be more interested in looking for a way out.

Try the same technique but without the heater. If it's in your house during the day and it's warm enough for you to be comfortable, then he shouldn't take any harm from being without heat for a short time while he eats.

Failing that, my first trick is usually to leave them in the feeding tank with the food overnight. Sometimes they take much longer than half an hour to get the idea. If the travel tank will fit into the everyday tank, then he'll be plenty warm enough.

thanks a lot for the responses guys the travel cage will def fit into his regular cage if i remove some stuff so tonight i guess i will thaw out a new pinkie and leave the two of them in the travel cage until morning(or until he eats if he is feeling co-operative)

thanks again guys

I would suggest not thawing out your pinky in water. Now this is probably different for every one but I have better luck thawing my pinkies under a heating lamp. I have my heating lamps Zip tied to the top of the cages so I just slip the pinky in under the lamp but wraped up in a tissue with at least 3 folds over it in between the pinky and the light. About 10 - 15 min later the pinky is really warm but not to hot. "The lamps are 60 watt bulbs" Then braing with a razor blade just splitting the top of the head. I also place them in a small deli cup to eat and I make sure there are not real close to a heat source. For feeding, room tempature at around 70 degrees is fine. That is what I found to get my non feeders to eat so far.

Question.....how warm is your pinkie? My snakey needs it really hot. I thaw it in water, but ut us hot, hot water. I dry it off and prance it around. Just a thought.....
