New baby corn viv

I picked up my baby corn snake today! I'm guessing it's around 3 months old as its been fed 9 times in its feeding log at Petsmart (If my guess is wrong let me know what you think). He is in a 20 gal long aquarium with a screen lid with 1 cage clip on either end. With the clips in place I can lift the lid with a few fingers with some effort(is that normal?). Is that enough to contain him for now? I plan to buy 2 straps that buckle (I don't know what they're called) this weekend for additional security (I have a large house + basement + dog... If he gets out I'll have a hard time tracking him down). Thanks for your help!

Congrats on your new baby! For the viv, I use the double sided velcro straps that you can find at craft and hardware stores.

Welcome and congrats! I would recommend some more clips all around the outside. Cornsnakes are little houdinis. Especially babies who can squeeze out of the tiniest gaps.

What's your little worm's name? We'd love to see picture if you have any!

Once again, a big welcome!

His name is Diglett (my kids love pokemon). I live in a very rural area so I won't be able to get any cage clips until Amazon delivers them. I went to a farm supply store (closest thing we have to a hardware store) and found a luggage strap (looks just like what someone made with supplies from a craft store in another post) but they only had one. I'm hoping the clips + luggage strap will be enough for a few days. Which would be better, 3 luggage straps; 1 on each end and 1 in the middle or several cage clips? Here is a pic I managed to get before he burried himself in his bedding, I haven't seen him since  . Am I correct in assuming he's a normal, also looking at him, any guesses on his age?

He looks like a normal to me. As to his age, length is a factor. Up to 12", sometimes 14" is considered a "baby" at a couple to 3 or 4 months old.
