New baby Sven! (Miami)

Maligator

Meet our new baby! Just picked him up today. He is about four months old, has the attitude of a rattler (and the tail shake, too) and is quite saucy. I'm so pleased with this little boy! Sorry about the sketchy pictures, he wouldn't sit still for anything! Without further ado, meet Sven!

I was thinking Abbott's Okeetee with those thick black borders and orange between the saddles, he looks just like my Flash did when he was a hatchling.

Oh no! He must have been mismarked? =/ Ah regardless, he was too dark and too cute to pass up!

Oh don't take it negatively, if he turns out to be an Abbott's Okeetee like he looks to be, they are beautiful!! An Abbott's Okeetee was my first corn snake, they are my favorite morph, followed by Miami's. My Abbott's Okeetee is my avatar and if you do a search for "Flash", I also have some good pics of him on here.

Nah, I don't really mind what he is - aside from cute. I wonder though, how do I edit my thread title? :D

Also, do a search for "Miami" and you'll see what Miami's actually look like. My Miami is named Zeke (search for "Zeke") and I've got a progression thread on him that I plan to keep updating.

Kewl addition, Sheldon!!! I'll have to agree that it looks either classic or Okeetee... if the borders stay dark and wide - Okeetee for sure.

Either way, NICE!!! Congrats!

Nice name too!!! I had a snow bull named Sven... then I gave him away... (what an IDIOT!). LOL.

I would go with Okeetee, also. A Miami will have silver background, an Okeetee will have bright orange background, and thick black borders around the saddles. Very, very different, both are gorgeous!! No way to tell what line of Okeetee he's from unless the breeder passed that information on. Your kid has some awesome black borders! If he looks like an orange and black tiger in a year, you'll know people calling him an Okeetee were right! No matter which variation of classic he is, he is going to change a LOT.

It's Katie, Fred! And thanks! He's very nippy; but once he gets settled and two or three meals in him, we'll see if we can get him used to being handled.

Sven the snow bull. I like it!

I'm sorry, Katie!!! My big oops for the day. :(

I'm fairly sure he'll calm down with you two... if the two of you can get a TBS to be as tame as I've seen in some of your pics, then this guy will be CAKE!!! LOL.

Congrats, KATIE! :D

I love his black and dark red! It's pretty bright orange closer to his head and very faded sort of tan down toward the tail. I looked up some Okeetee hatchlings that looked just like him. I'll get him out for a better photo shoot once he's settled.

No problem, Fred! Yes, he didn't nip at me when I put him in his viv or when I stuck my hand in there to put his water dish down, so I think he'll be okay. It's crazy how much SMALLER he is than Scarlett. I didn't realize it, but she grew eight inches since we've had her! She came August 20th.

Also - Sheldon just informed me that the Okeetee (which must have been the ACTUAL Miami) was marked for $89.99 and we got Sven for $49.99. Here's to lucky breaks!

Ah, ya know, I guess I just got into the habit of calling Okeetees with very thick black borders "Abbott's", but you're right, to be a true "Abbott's" it would have to have come from Lee Abbott's Okeetee line. There needs to be a name we give to those Okeetees with the really thick borders when we don't actually know what line they came from, I think anyway. :)

But yeah, mine's an Abbott's Okeetee, from Don at SMR. And my Miami could be called a Huddleston Miami since his parents were Huddleston Miami's bred by ArpeggioAngel. Both are best of the best!! :D

Mixed up

So the tank had an Okeetee and a Miami. One snake had already been purchased and sitting in there was this little guy. I had never seen a baby okeetee or miami before so going off what I knew about the adults I thought for sure this was the Miami. Well lucky us we were charged for the Miami's price (almost half the Okeetee's) and now we find out we have an Okeetee.:dancer: Funny since this was one of the next morphs we were looking at investing in. Now we need to get an actual Miami. :) The place we purchased from sells more of the exotic snakes and really doesn't carry many corns.

Well, when it's time for your Miami, I'd get one from Carol, or someone who has a pair of Huddleston Miamis (like Katie). Carol is VERY picky about rating her snakes in terms of future looks and prices accordingly. And even the very best Miami that you can buy is still an extremely affordable snake.

Yep, yep! I second this! Huddleston Miami's are the best, IMO!

Looks a lot like my Abbott's Okeetee when he was a baby. If it is an Okeetee, get ready for some real fun watching the color intensify and the borders thicken with each shed. Congrats!!!
