I just bought my first breeding colony of mice and they are sooo cute!!!
I keep them in a 10 gallon glass aquarium... I have 1 male, 2 females.

How many days does it takes to have the first babies?!?!?! I'm so excited!!! :crazy02:

Depending on age, it generally takes mine 1-2 months to get situated in a "family unit" and give birth.
 
I buy them adult and they have already mate several times this evening.... so how long do you think it could take to have little pinkies!? :)

I have one last question... i know i can't add anoter male to the colony or change my male, because he will kill all the babies, but, can i add other females!?!
 
cornsnake234, are you going to feed them live to your snake?

I feed my snake live mice and its not really my choice. Its the snakes, they dont eat frozen anymore. They just stoped eating them, so I tried prekilled mice not very fun to sever there spins from the neck. So I tried live and they never went back. I tried to trick them a couple of times but still they ended up sleeping on it, or liying on it.

You will have it made, by breeding your own feeders. At any size you could just pick them out and feed to your snake. Just throw it in and watch out that the mouse does not bite my snakes. I do feed them is separet cages.
 
I'm trying breeding my own mices but i feed them frozen to my corns. I've feed them live once and they were crazy after the meal so it was just a try!! :rolleyes: they don't seem to care if the mice is dead or alive... my anery and my amel constrict them anyway!! :)
 
As for adding other females, I would suggest probably not. I wouldn't over-crowd a 10 gallon aquarium. In a 20 long you can comfortably keep a 1:5.

Female mice are ruthless at times. If you do add a female, make sure she's younger and do it while the mice are just getting situated. If you add to established colonies problems can arise.

How many snakes are you feeding, btw?
