hi all,

just thought id post a pic of one of my 2 new purchases. my favourite corns are striped butters and i have plans to produce some myself......i hope.

these are 3rd generation in this project, by one of the top corn breeders over here in the UK. Think it started Striped Amel to butter first gen, then these hatchlings bred together, producing my new ones.

just wondered what everyone thought.

cheers
Mark

Very pretty! Are they siblings? I am asking because the male appears to be a striped-motley and the female is striped up quote nicely. I think that if you breed these together, then you should end up with some that look motley, some that look striped, and some that are obviously striped-motley.

hi,
yeah they are siblings.

this is another female i have, totally seperate line from the above though, so i can have lots of mix n matching.lol

These are 3rd generation Striped Butter? I think they look very different form the Striped Butter in the US. Nice but not yellow. I would not have identified it as Striped Butter if you hadn't told so. Looks more like Butter X Amel outcross. Interesting.

I think the first one may be a striped butter and the second one is an amel (which means it is only possible het butter given the breedings mentioned). It is really hard to tell about really young butters. Mine weren't very yellow when they were young.
