I used the Rubbermaid Take Alongs like in Jeff Mohr's design for two reasons; the right size and cheap! The next one I build will be the finished version, this is the prototype.

Hatchling Rack

The shelves are the tile board from Home Depot, Melamine side down.
I just have it sitting on the deck rail LOL.
I whipped this up in a couple hours. The next one will be the finished version with hardwood edging, maybe walnut on the front to match the tile board.
 
So how much did all those tubs set you back, and where did you get them? I really need to make something similar to this...
 
Rubbermaid Take Alongs

I got mine at Walmart, about 66 cents each for the long and .50 for the short.
 
Do you make it so you can use the 'rack' without lids w/ hatchlings? Arent you afraid of escapes!?

One of the bigger companies needs to come up with a good hatchling rack, thats affordable of course (unless there is one and I am missing it?) I am more of a plastic fan, rather then wood, I dont know why?

But MohrSnakes and then your design are good too! Let us know how the finishing product turns out AND works ;)
