Hey all, new to the boards. I actually just got a ball python, and was looking for a related message board but I couldnt find any. Basically i just wanted some place that I could look up some basic info if needed. I used to have a corn when I was young, but when he got bigger my parents made us give it to a pet store. Now im in an apartment at school and figured i'd get back into the game.

Anyways, one of my first questions... Where the heck can i get a background for the 20 gallon tank I have? You know, like the laminated ones they sell for fish aquariums? I want one that would go along with the snakes tank. I searched all over and only found one place that had them but their selection was very slim and nothing I liked much.

Hope you guys dont mind a couple pics of a ball python...

Sorry for the links... The images are too large for forums and I didn't feel like rescaling them..

You can only edit if you are paid member. Welcome to the corn snake forum. As for the backround I found mine at pet store. You might find more info about ball pythons on this site: http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/mainpage.php
it is kind of like a sister site, but includes all reptiles.
No one ever minds pics fo snakes, but pics of anything but corns should go in gen chit chat. You could also ask questions in gen chit chat about your snake. Very nice snake.

Guess we can forgive you for the moment, as now that you're a member, you'll have Corn Snakes, soon... :grin01: But, in the meantime, let's work on your husbandry skills....
Ditch the stick on thermometers and get a couple with probes. Place the probes on the bottom of the tank where the snake actually is, (no use measuring temps above the snake), second, ditch the carpet, (holds bacteria, smells, and moisture), and replace with Aspen (Pine and others give off harmful fumes), and get yourself another hide for the warm side, so your snake can choose a hiding spot in the temperature it needs... You'll probably want to look into under tank heaters, and thermostats too... Welcome to the addiction :D
