Hi. We are soon to be acquiring a corn, hopefully in the next few months. I have my corn how to manual on order, and it should be here soon. That is my first step. We are slowly figuring out what all we are going to need-making a list and checking it twice. I have a few questions already, and will be finding the appropriate place to post them soon. Your posts have been helpful already.

Welcome, Diane! I am in Illinois too (near Chicago).
I am also just getting ready for our first snake... I started my research, got the kids all excited and then realized that the peek of hatching season is just starting! So, we've had some waiting to do, but I think it will be worth it.
I have found everyone here to be very helpful. I hope you do too.
Beware: the photos are addicting!

Hi and welcome to cornsnakes.com !!! I am not to old... only had my snake since feb. 5. GOOD LUCK ON THESE WONDERFUL SNAKES!!!

Thanks! I am near Peoria, so not too terribly far away. My hope is to get this snake before the end of July as to give my kids time to work with it and get to know the routine before school starts back up. I am still not sure about this, as up until about 6 months ago if you said the word snake I was the one pushing people out of the way to get out of there first. But from what I have heard they make great pets and I think they are beautiful creatures the more I get to know about them. Good luck with yours!

Welcome to the forum! :wavey:
I've been to the Peoria area for soccer tournaments when I was younger. Good luck picking out your first corn. There are so many morphs it makes choosing a favorite difficult.

Welcome! Do you have a favorite morph picked out?

There are so many!! At this point I am not really picky. My 8 yr old just wants a corn snake. He has no clue about morphs, although we are reading books about them. He tends to like "red and orange ones" as he calls them. We'll see what we end up with. We are going tonight to a corn snake talk at our local park district, so hopefully we will learn a little bit more about them!
