New home made incubator

Hay guys, seeing as I'm in South Africa, we are going into breeding season and as prep I built my incubator to ensure no last minute troubles. Seeing as this will be my first time breeding I want to know if the incubator will work, the specs are as follows: I have a styrofoam box with a clear lid, inside is will be a 1/4 filled amount of water with a aquarium heater in, a pedestal is built to fit in to have the container holding the eggs about 3inches from the water. I've hooked it up to check temperature and humidity inside the egg container and it keeps at a constant 82f and at a near 100% humidity. Will this be fine or should I rather build it differently? Any help will be greatly appreciated

The temperature and humidity specs should be fine, but my experience with styrofoam is that it will not hold water. There is likely going to be a small leak somewhere, maybe even one that you can not detect, but over the long term, it will probably leak. You may want to consider lining the inside with some kind of plastic or rubber sheeting (pond liner, thick painter's plastic, etc) or even some kind of tupperware tub if you can find it.

Personally, I prefer to stay away from water-based heating elements, because they can dry up and leak, and would use something more like a heat mat, but water-based works too, it just takes more attention.

Thanks so much. I will definitely add pond liner as I have some at home. I agree that it is going to take more attention and I'll be sure to keep a close eye on it. Thanks for the reply really appreciate it
