hey, Im Jonathan. don't have a corn yet, but looking into it of course. 23, from Logan Lake BC (pop 2500). I've always been fanatical about reptiles and snakes, but until recently hadn't seriously considered a snake.

I was at a local pet store a couple weeks ago, and saw a red albino $150CAD. Now, I know the prices in this area are typically higher, but this still seemed a bit high to me, as it looked to be a hatchling. I could be wrong - i don't know what an albino red is worth. I hadn't previously thought about breeders, but when I left the store it occured to me that I could probably find a corn for a better price, and (after seeing the huge list of morphs), find one that appealed to me more. So now Im in the process of figuring out which morph I prefer leaning toward ghost), though Im still trying to figure out the whole genetics thing as the wifey will be getting one as well, and want to take into account the possibility of breeding (when they're the right age/size of course).

One thing Im unsure about is building enclosures. I've read plexi doesn't hold heat so isn't ideal for snakes, and mdf/plywood is best, but Im having trouble finding more indepth instructions for it all. Well, I'll figure that all out before I get the corns, of course.

from what I've read, everyone on here seems to be pretty good-minded and helpful, looking forward to being a membe here :)

Welcome! There's a ton of info availailable here. I have six snakes, four corns, and two kings. There all under a year old and are housed in 10 gallon aquariums with screen tops. If you want to display your snakes the standard 10 gallon for the little ones and the 20 gallon long for adults are hard to beat. 10 gallons are under $10 American at WALMART and the screen tops are less than $7.00. I use one Under Tank Heater (UTH) for each two vivs. Check the FAQ for more detail on setups. Hope the forum makes keeping a corn that much better for you.
