Back in April I got my first corn and I fell in love but in a moth she ended up drying and I was devestated. I finally decied to get another Back in April I got my first corn and I fell in love but in a month she ended up drying and I was devastated. I finally decided to get another and he is doing well, eating fine and settling quite well.
he is just a baby and the tank is a 20 Gal. I keep a water dish in the center.
I have two different thermometers, a stick on one an electric one that shows me the humidity. I have a nice under heater that keeps one site in the mid 80’s and the cool side gets to be Mid 70’s to 80 at the most. The humidity is around 40-50 but I live in Florida so not sure how to get it any lower.
Anyways.. I was talking to the guy at the pet store and he was saying I should get a light form him as well. I wasn’t sure if that would make it too hot for him or what. He is shedding right now, it is so cute, but I want him to be happy and comfortable. I just want to make sure everything is okay for him. I don't think I could stand to loose another one..

Usually an additional light for a corn is not needed as long as you have an UTH. You need one or the other, but a UTH is recommended for belly heat to digest.

Did he mean heat lamp or light? A heat lamp IS unecessary and DOES dry out the cage so is not recommended BUT some people use them with no ill affects to the health of their animals. If he meant light, as in fluorescent, they are not 'necessary' so much as they do lighten up a vivarium and make it nicer looking.

Not sure if you want to listen to a stupid pet store employee . . . :sidestep: . . . but I think that's some 'more clearerest' information for you on the topic of lighting.

PS. Here's a pic of some of my cages . . . with lights . . . (I also have rack systems):
