I just bought ma brand new baby. Its a regular cornsnake but what the name for them? Also when I was at the store the lady said that she noticed a yellow coloring under its stomach towards its head and she sais theres a name for that particular type. also are they good escape artist and is there anything i could do to prevent it. i bought little clips for the lid but is there any ither ways? and can you give me any others tips that a new om needs to know? ~~~~thanks:confused:

If your snake is a regular corn snake, then it is called a normal or wild type (because typically that's the color that would be found in the wild). This thread has some pictures of normals and normal motleys in it: http://www.cornsnakes.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=9976&highlight=normal+hatchling

The yellow underneath its chin doesn't mean anything if it is a normal (or in most morphs, for that matter). It sounds as if it was simply a sales ploy.

They are very good escape artists. You just have to make sure the enclosure is secure.

For other info, you can use the search button at the top of the page. It is a wonderful tool for searching for answers to questions you may have.

Welcome to the forums, by the way!

I'll also put in the normal plug for Kathy Love's Cornsnake Manual! Great book, and very informative.
