HI,kids, nice forum.Haven't seen it all yet,but what I've seen so far looks great.Glad to join you all.
A little background. It's my girlfriend and I,her name is Kathy,I'm Tracy.
By the way,I am male.(she's not!)
We live in SW Fla,both natives.
I am a fish fan,have 4 tanks,all African cichlids,all mbunas,for any other
fish fanatics out there.
She volunteers at the local county nature center, asked last Aug if she could bring a baby snake home.Had to think about that one, never been a fan,but finally gave in,got a 20 gal long aquarium and screen top,a year later we have 7!The first was a red, then a yellow, then 2 greys, and today 2 albinos.
Oh,well,stuff happens.
I'm a complete noob, just now taking a big interest in them, and she's no expert either, but all are well and growing like crazy.
Ok,enough intro,a couple of quick questions,if I may,then it's bedtime for
bonzo.
We fishkeepers build backgrounds for fish tanks, usually from styrofoam, carved and coated with concrete.
I'm building one now,getting a 180 gal tank in March,from glasscages.com,
I'm sure you all have used their stuff.
I figured I'd get Kathy a bigger terrarium while I'm at it,so will order her a
72" 135 gal at the same time.Waiting till march,'cause glasscages is going to
a reptile show in Tampa then, and shipping for 2 tanks that size, stands and canopies would be huge dineros, they'll carry all the stuff down for $100,
we'll drive up to Tampa and pick it all up.About a 120 mi drive, mucho savings on freight, not that I'm cheap(ok,I am)
but the tanks and accessories are setting us back about $2500 smackers,so need to save where I can.
Anyway, would like to build a background for snakes tank, but paint it instead of concrete it, the only paint we've found safe for fish is Krylon Fusion.
Has anyone been where I'm going,do you all know if this is safe for use in a
terrarium,or have any better suggestions of what I might use?
Second question for the mod.
Can you tell me how to change my forum name, roboform filled it for me,didn't notice that I am my e-mail address, can't see where to change it :shrugs: ?
That's it,will be back, looking forward to meeting everybody, and learning lots about our new hobby.Am sure we will you all have a great forum.
Thanks.
Tracy,Kathy.
