Here is my first snake, a snow that I got a little over a week ago. I don't know what I am going to call him but I like him. :)

Seems like your little one is having a bit of trouble shedding.....try increasing the humdity and it should shed perfectly in one piece the next time it sheds.

Don't leave unshed skin on the snake, cause it can cause a lot of trouble........this time either try soaking it in luke warm water for around 20 min and gently remove the remaining skin with tissue.

Good luck and Happy Herping!

i had the same problem with my snake at first. not enough humidity in the tank. the best way i found and the easiest is to take a news paper and make it into stips. soak them in water until they can't absorb any more. then place the strips of paper in a clean different container wth a lid(air holes of coarse) and leave your snake in this container for a couple of hours. or until the skin comes off. I like this way best because the snake takes it off them self. when the skin is ready to come off. they just start moving on around the container until it catchers on the paper. it works really well all the skin came off top half in pieces and the bottom half came off whole.

Thanks for the tips.. I was thinking about trying to make a humidifier for his hide but that sounds like a good idea. :)

also might want to put a rock in there to let the snake catch their skin on there but other than that it is a lovely snow i have one jus tlike it only 2 yrs older also make sure the eye caps are off i think they might still be on there from what the pics show

Thanks for the tips all. I went ahead and did the container and water and the shed was done in about an hour. :) You guys rock.. :)

Here is a pic of him feeding. I know I shouldn't feed him in the cage but I was impatient with his squirming today.:)

If you know you shouldn't do something...

then why do it? I'm not trying to be mean. I just want you to realize that impatience is not a good reason to risk your snake's life. If he swallows some of his bedding then it could kill him.

You are going to feel really bad/sad if something happens to your snake due to improper care. Next time you should at least put a paper towel or something down for him to eat on if you aren't going to feed him in a separate container.

Don't take it personally. It's just that some of us have lost corns (especially young ones) to ingestion of wood shavings. I, myself, lost a '02 0.1 hypobloodred to ingestion of aspen shavings a while ago. Not only was it a loss of a cared for animal, but it also cost me a pretty penny too!

Just take it as some friendly advice and warning with the worried tone of someone who cares!

;)
