New member with first snake!

Now that I have purchased my first snake, I figure it is time to say hi, so hello! I just purchased a little 9g normal corn snake at our monthly reptile show. I keep and breed rhacodactylus geckos (and those formally known as rhacs), but had limited exposure to snakes. I did live with one ball python for a few years, and helped every feeding, so I do have a little experience. Ball pythons just weren't active enough for me, and I loved how the corns seemed to be curious, so I picked a corn. :) Then I picked a cute little one with fun belly stripes and a rocket on its head!

I know everyone probably wants to know what morph their new snake is, and I am certain I have a normal. What I am not sure of, however, is what flavor of normal coloration might this one have when it is older? I tried to look for "normal" and got several different coloration patterns which are apparently different locales? Any insight into what I might expect this one to look like as an adult would be greatly appreciated! :D

Nice to meet you!

Welcome Vienna, that's a very beautiful Corn you have, very pretty colors. I cant help you with your question but there are sooooooo many people here that can and will. Be patient, we have wonderful folks here.

Again welcome and nice to meet you !

Thanks for your welcome and information!

I guess what I was wondering is if there was a way to know as a hatchling whether my little guy will have an orange base with red saddles or if it will be more like the ones who are red all over?

I've noticed how normals always look different when they're older. I like the darker ones instead of the oranger ones, but they're all nice. Those colors on yours are awesome! So vibrant! Welcome.

Welcome to the forum! You are right about your little baby being a normal. The great thing about normals is not one snake looks the same. The variation in the normals is so great it is hard to say with 100% certainty what your baby will look like as an adult. Take lots of pictures here in the first couple years because you will be amazed by the transformation.

My new little guy ate his first meal here last night! I couldn't be happier! At first he ran from the pinky on tongs, but then he hit it and decided he might want to take a better taste. He's downright awful at wrapping, but since he takes F/T, we're just going to tell him A for effort. :D
