I have a male Hypo Lavender Motley, got him at a reptile show. He is approx 22 inches long. Ive had him home about a month or so, he adjusted well to his new surroundings has been eating great and handles well. Approx 4 days ago when we got him out of his cage we noticed he was in the blue phase. He never showed any aggression etc when we got him out. Before handling him that eve he had eatin 48 hours before so we didnt handle him. Due to that its unclear when the blue phase started. Since then he hasnt came out of his warm hide at all, he used to come out in the eves and explore. We have checked on him and he seems to be ok however we havent handled him. His warm hide is running about 84.5 on average and the cool side is 73.4 on average with humidity between 50-60 percent. Just want to know what i can expect for the upcoming shed, since the blue phase started id say its been about 4-5 days with no movement from him. Any info would certainly be appreciated.

Hi, and congratulations on your new snake! He will probably hang out there for another few days, and then his color will clear up and he may move around a little. Then about 2 or 3 days after he becomes clear again, he will shed! Your temperatures and humidity sound about right so it looks like you don't need to do anything but wait! Usually from noticeably blue to shed it takes my guys about 7 to 10 days. I know it feels like forever! That's why I keep track in a little book, so when I feel like my snake has been blue for 2 weeks and there might be something wrong, I can check and see that it's actually only been 4 days... LOL. Once he's done shedding you can handle him again, and check him over to make sure he got his eye caps off and the tip of his tail especially. If these don't come off, there are a few tricks to help, but hopefully at those humidity levels he won't have any trouble at all.

Sounds like he's in a typical shed mode to me. As albertagirl said don't be alarmed if in a few days your snake looks normal again, you will think wait, where is the skin?? Just be patient a few days after that your snake will shed.
