new pet anxiety

does anyone else get "new pet anxiety" where every little noise you pet makes or anything even slightly out of the ordinary you stress out thinking somethings wrong?

No, I just check babies a million times a day to make sure they haven't escaped out of the hatchling rack! I'm starting to settle down now, after a week.

With my first couple snakes I was that way...constantly wanting to look at them, make sure they are still there, etc... Now that I have more I don't really do that anymore. I just put em in their tank/tub and let them be to settle in.

I am with zoology girl. I used to obsess but am a little less prone to it now (with snakes, at least) that I know about what to expect. It's a wonder I didn't worry my first cornsnake, Hokie, to death!

I am still like that with other new pets, to an extent. Our almost 6 month old puppy is currently getting most of my "obsessive" attention. I can hear him instantly in the middle of the night if he so much as stirs... and wake from a dead sleep if he starts to go potty where he's not supposed to. I've heard new mothers of humans are the same way. :bang:

ha i never thought of that if i'm this worried and anxious with my snake how bad am i going to be when i have my first child. Im getting married soon so its only a matter of time.

Probably, but it's good practice for parenthood. ;)

I'm a worrier by nature, so I feel you. It's not just new pets though. Every few days I find some obscure reason to worry about one of my animals and have to talk myself out of it. My boyfriend gets stuffed up easily and he often makes a whistling sound when he breathes, which I constantly think is one of my snakes dying of an R.I.

Ever since my king snake got out I'm never totally confident that the lids are secure, and I can't sleep at night until I've double and triple-checked their enclosures (especially his!).
