New pet pics-- dog, cat, hedgie, snakes, etc

Beautiful animals, I love Goldens, and I wish I had a snake/reptile room like yours!

Oh, and I love your hedgie!!

Thanks for sharing!

I use cool whip containers is that Okay?

Those would be fine as well, yes. I put damp moss in mine. They love it. Some people don't advice keeping humid hides in their tanks all the time because it can lead to fungal issues. I keep the moss just slightly damp, and change it if it starts to smell musty, and I've never had an issue so far. I keep the humid hides on the warm sides. They seem to use them most often when going into shed, but are in there other times as well.

Okay thanks I have a corn that has alot of bad sheds. That will help alot. Now I am starting to use tubs what should I do as far as humidity boxes in those the same?

We are going to be swapping a lot of our snakes into racks when Tara moves here in June. I plan to still use humid hides in those, if I can fit them (I think I will be able to). My snakes that use the humid hides never have bad sheds-- the ones that don't often do.

My corn did this in a bad shed

If you notice he is a big circle now

Beautiful snakes Lauren. And beautiful setups. One can tell that a woman's touch is more than just a "touch" in those neat and clean pics. I like the one with vivs and the books. Can I come and live in that room? LOLOL.

Eric... wait til Tara and I combine households in June. If the cops don't think I am growing pot now due to the combined effects of the 50 gallon reef and the herp vivs, they sure as heck will when Tara adds her gang to the mix. I may be proactive and contact them in advance. lol!

We're going to have to fit her ten snakes in in addition to my 12. We've worked it out so we can fit them all in with a stack of Boaphile cages and two sideways sweater box racks. We're hoping to get a baby rack as well for the little ones. If not, they will have to stay in the reptile ranches.

We have big plans for the front room and are hoping to have cages and racks on either side of a TV with her love seat in front for viewing purposes. Should be really cool! And yes, there will be lots more bookshelves to accomodate another avid reader!

David-- yeah, I'd definitely get humid hides into your tanks. During the winter especially, heat dries out our homes and it's good for them to have options in my opinion.

dyk, i'm a real loser...i just read that tshirt

dyk, does the cats collar have little fish on it? If so it's the same collar I have for one of my kittehs.

Why is it all the coolest looking greenery looks like pot? LOL. I used to have a couple of (miniature) Chinese Ming Aralia trees in my living room, and one had real live leaves shaped almost exactly that way. So I was told, that is. LOL.

Lauren I love your set up! So neat & tidy. And of course your lovely pets.
I enjoyed viewing all your pets, you will have to do this again when Tara moves in.
And can I just say I love your Izzy. I have a A. King too. Her name is Zipper.
I would love it if you could link me her breeders, I have been looking for another one.
Also I am gonna have to come to a MD reptile show this spring so I can hang with Tara & you.
And I too read the shirt (thanks Tara). lol

I'm gonna ditto on using the water bowls as hides, too! I learned that trick from Kyle and my snakes lurve it! David, another really cheap hide that we have in all of our tanks....We bought a whole bunch of the plastic plant pots at the dollar store(they were literally 2 for a dollar)turned 'em upside down and cut an entry door into 'em. Sanded it all down where we cut and the snakes love them too! In fact I recently removed all the fancy fangdangled stuff we had originally bought because they don't use any of it anymore!

Thanks is spagnum a good moss to use

Sphagnum is great. At this point, I think I need to look into buying bales of the stuff from mail-order, but you can get it at most reptile stores too. I buy the green kind... I think it's made by Fluker Labs?

Yes, the cats collar is blue with tiny fish. So cute!! ;) When we were taking the pics, I was wearing a shirt that said "Paddle faster! I hear banjo music!"

When I kept my snakes in my classroom at school, all my pothead students would stare at the greenery and snicker. I'd say loudly "That's a silk plant-- try to control your urge to roll it up and smoke it."

Tim-- heck yeah you need to come down here! We'd love to hang out! You'd even be welcome to crash on our couch! ;)

Izzy's breeder has a website: http://www.s-ecto.com/

He actually had some high whites at the show on Saturday. Did not see any really nice aberrants, but I wasn't looking. Ted is a great guy... when I bought Izzy, I had emailed him about one of her siblings and he actually held the snake for me because I could not get to the show until noon. I ended up buying her instead of her high white brother because I liked her markings better. She has a demon on her head!!! :devil01:

This is a great idea too!

Thanks everyone for the compliments. :)

Lauren, I can't wait to see the pictures of your reptile room when Tara moves in! I can't imagine what it'll look like!! :p

You have some lovely animals there! Of course I'm partial to Izzy... since she has my name and all :)

And apparently I'm stupid... ;)

The zoo grows...

The madness continues.

Tara gave me her medium sized rat cage a while back, and then my mothers ancient (9 years old!!) cavy passed on two weekends ago and I inherited an even larger cage... I had thought about getting a pair of rats for a while because I've never really worked with them much at all.

We were at Petsmart this weekend and there was a cute little blue female and a multicolored female wrestling together on the aspen. We watched for a while and then went about our business (we were getting crickets).

Today I went back and got the two females and while I was there I couldn't resist a pair of adorable baby gerbils. Both are females-- one is black, the other normal agouti. So cute! My last gerbil pair, Maverick and Goose, passed away last summer at about 3 years of age and this is the longest I have gone without gerbils since high school.

Without further adue... the new additions. I haven't named any of them yet. I usually wait about 3-4 weeks to name new critters, so suggestions are welcome. I will try and get close ups of each of the rats tonight-- I didn't want to stress them further by shoving cameras in their faces so soon.
