New snake in the hizzy!

My son has Noah now. Noah is a 5ft long rescued albino corn snake. Most information I find available is for young/small corns. How much/how often would you feed a 5ft long corn snake? What food source would you use? I have no idea about feeding history, so how about food introduction (being 10 years old or so and possibly never offered f/t or f/k)?

For a large corn, what should habitat look like? Still two hides? (He seems disinterested in the hide that is in there presently... he is very social and comfortable as well).

I do not require specialized answers, of course.... I just could not seem to find many threads that included information on large adult corns newly acquired.

What would the most optimal temps look like? Less humidity than my pythons and boas, right?

Thanks! Photos and Noah's story to come soon! :)

Hello and Welcome to the Forums!!! I would say that feeding him one adult mouse a week should be fine. I would make sure you are feeding in a separate container and F/T.

With the habitat, yes there should be 2 hides and a water bowl exc...

Good temps to aim for are 70-75 on the cool side and 80-85 on the warm side. With the humidity, you really don't need to worry about that. He will be fine. It doesn't hurt to mist the cage everyday or when he is in shed though.

Can't wait for the picks! :)

Yay! for the new cornsnake. Like said above, you should feed about 1 adult mouse a week. Some people probably don't agree, but I feed my adult corn 2 adult mice a week normally. One on Sunday and the next on Wednesday. That goes for my baby corn too. I've never had any problems. You should try feeding f/t. Some snakes will refuse that though, so you may need to feed live. Just watch your snake carefully when you feed him live so he doesn't get injured from the mouse. Also, feed in seperate container.
The enclosure should still have 2 hides on each side. I never worry about the humidity. And it should be about 75-80 on the cool side and 80-85 on the warm side.
Post pictures soon! I wanna see him. :)

My adult that we got as a (I'm guessing) 2 yr old sub adult was fed live once a week until we got her, I continued feeding live till I found this great site. I thought I'd try f/t with her just to see if she'd take it. She's a hog and had no problems with eating f/t. I truly believe she'd eat every day if I let her..lol

Good luck with your new one and yes we'd love to see pics!
